Job Summary

We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer to design, develop, and support scalable, secure, resilient, and maintainable enterprise applications powering Lowe's Pricing AI platform. This role is responsible for translating complex business requirements and functional specifications into high-quality, production-ready software solutions that enable AI-driven pricing decisions across merchandising, pricing optimization, and revenue management initiatives.

The Senior Software Engineer will work closely with Product Managers, Data Scientists, Data Engineers, Architects, and Platform Engineering teams to design, build, and maintain modern full-stack solutions spanning frontend applications, backend services, APIs, cloud-native platforms, and data integrations. The role will contribute across the full Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC), from solution design and development through testing, deployment, production support, and continuous improvement, while accelerating experimentation, model deployment, and business decision-making.

This role combines strong software engineering fundamentals with modern cloud-native development, AI-enabled engineering practices, and operational excellence. The ideal candidate is passionate about building scalable software, improving developer productivity through automation and AI, and delivering reliable, customer-focused solutions that drive business outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, deploy, and support scalable, secure, resilient, and maintainable full-stack solutions spanning frontend applications, backend services, APIs, cloud-native platforms, and data integrations, aligned with business objectives and enterprise standards.
• Translate complex business requirements and functional specifications into technical designs, executable user stories, and high-quality software solutions across the full Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC).
• Build and enhance modern frontend applications, backend services, REST APIs, microservices, cloud-native platforms, and data-driven services supporting Pricing AI products and enterprise applications.
• Own the end-to-end implementation and delivery of assigned features and projects, proactively identifying technical risks, dependencies, and implementation challenges while ensuring timely delivery.
• Apply and promote engineering best practices, including secure coding, code reviews, automated testing, CI/CD, performance optimization, documentation, and observability.
• Support operational excellence through monitoring, incident response, root-cause analysis, production support, performance tuning, and continuous reliability improvements.
• Collaborate with Product, Architecture, Data Science, Data Engineering, Security, Infrastructure, and business stakeholders to deliver scalable, reliable, and customer-focused Pricing AI solutions.
• Mentor junior engineers through code reviews, technical discussions, knowledge sharing, documentation, and day-to-day engineering guidance.
• Evaluate and adopt modern technologies, engineering tools, automation, and software development practices to improve engineering efficiency, software quality, and developer productivity.
• Contribute to technical design discussions, system design reviews, architecture reviews, and engineering best practices to improve application scalability, maintainability, reliability, and long-term platform evolution.

• Identify opportunities to leverage AI to improve engineering productivity, software quality, automation, and delivery efficiency.
• Utilize AI-assisted development tools and automation capabilities to accelerate software development, testing, documentation, debugging, code reviews, and developer workflows while ensuring measurable business value.
• Promote responsible and effective use of AI by following established security, compliance, privacy, and governance guidelines.
• Encourage the effective use of AI tools to improve software delivery, knowledge sharing, engineering documentation, and operational excellence while maintaining engineering quality and standards.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems (CIS), Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 5+ years of software engineering experience.
• Strong experience developing full-stack enterprise applications across frontend, backend, APIs, databases, cloud-native platforms, and data integrations.
• Strong proficiency in Java/Kotlin, Spring Boot, microservices, Kafka, ReactJS, SQL & NoSQL databases, and Python.
• Strong understanding of software engineering principles, including software design, system design, design patterns, data structures, algorithms, distributed systems, and application scalability.
• Experience designing, developing, and implementing scalable distributed systems, cloud-native applications, and microservices architectures.
• Proven experience independently delivering complex technical solutions across the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) while collaborating with cross-functional engineering teams.
• Experience integrating enterprise applications with data platforms, machine learning services, APIs, and cloud-native infrastructure.
• Strong collaboration and communication skills with engineering, product, data science, architecture, and business stakeholders.
• Highly adaptable, flexible, and able to quickly learn new technologies, business domains, and processes while effectively navigating evolving priorities and ambiguous situations.
• Experience with observability, production support, incident management, monitoring, and operational excellence practices.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with cloud platforms, preferably Google Cloud Platform (GCP) or any Cloud Service.
• Experience with AI-assisted development tools, engineering automation, and modern software delivery practices.
• Experience in enterprise-scale retail, eCommerce, merchandising, pricing, supply chain, or customer-facing applications.
• Experience contributing to application architecture, technical design discussions, system design reviews, and engineering best practices.
• Experience adopting AI-enabled engineering practices to improve software quality, developer productivity, and delivery efficiency.
• Experience with Data Engineering technologies, including GCP, BigQuery, Apache Spark, Cloud Composer, Airflow, Kafka, and related cloud-native data platforms.
• Experience integrating machine learning models, AI-powered services, or intelligent APIs into production applications.
• Familiarity with DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, containerization (Docker/Kubernetes), Infrastructure as Code, and cloud-native application development.
