Leicester Hospital | Nursing | Bank Ad Hoc | Includes weekend work |
Up to £15 per hour depending on experience

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Health Care Assistant (HCA) Band 3 to work within the Nuffield Leicester Children’s and Young People’s Services. This is a bank position. Nuffield Leicester has 8 day-case surgical beds on the paediatric unit. We care for children and young people (CYP) with a wide variety of general surgical, orthopaedic and ENT conditions.

The role will involve working on the day-case unit, working alongside the registered nurses. There will also be opportunities to work within the Outpatient Departments.

As a Child & Young People Healthcare Assistant in Outpatients, you will: 

  • Making and changing beds, general housekeeping duties

  • Talking with children and parents to help them feel less lonely and anxious

  • Distracting children during procedures such as blood collection

  • Performing observations and early warning scores and escalating when necessary

  • Documentation of patient care such as fluid balance and observations of temperature, blood pressure, heart rate and respirations

  • Phlebotomy skills and competency for ECG tests, will also be an advantage

The main duties will be carried out under the direction of a professionally qualified practitioner and can include the tasks listed above.

You will need to demonstrate evidence of current/previous experience in working with CYP.  If you are highly motivated and want to make a difference in the lives of children and young people, can work well as part of a multidisciplinary team, can follow instructions, accept guidance and use your initiative, we would be delighted to hear from you.

The Hospital has been rated as a ‘Good’ hospital by the CQC and achieved this rating across the 5 key lines of enquiry across all departments inspected
