Specialist, Health, Safety and Environment - Animal Health (Dong Nai)

Job Description

The Health, Safety and Environmental Specialist is accountable for ensuring an efficient and effective health, safety and environmental management system at our facilities.  The Specialist directs EHS programs and influences site staff to assure regulatory compliance, achieve continuous performance improvement, and integrate EHS performance objectives into standard work processes.  Develops strategies to achieve these goals in alignment with site business goals and values.  Develops and drives the safety culture and programs.

 

Primary Responsibilities (but not limited to):

Manage Health, Safety and Environmental compliance by:

• Maintaining existing company EHS systems, processes, and procedures.
• Proactively drive compliance by completing assessments and implementing new EHS regulatory requirements and corporate standards.
• Being the point of contact for new project activity to ensure EHS compliance as part of change management.
• Managing EHS incident / accident reporting and ensuring corrective actions are implemented.
• Managing the Hazard ID system and risk registers.
• Conducting and participating in EHS inspections and audits.
• Maintaining an EHS training matrix and coordinating EHS training requirements. 
• Identifying improvements to the company’s EHS systems.
• Being the point of contact for site staff, relevant regulatory bodies, and the public on EHS issues.
• Reporting of routine EHS metrics to corporate and regulatory bodies. 
• Maintaining the site chemical database and SDS systems.
• Managing waste management systems and permits/approvals related to environmental discharges.

 

Ensure the highest possible safety standards are met by:

• Supporting the investigation and resolution of incidents and accidents in a timely manner.
• Ensuring hazards are identified within the operational areas of the business and assist with the implementation of corrective actions.
• Participating in safety meetings. Chairing and keeping minutes for the meeting as required.
• Conducting staff and contractor safety inductions, overseeing contractor work and permit issuance to ensure it is performed in a safe and appropriate manner as required.

 

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & COMPETENCIES

Minimum Qualification (education, experience and/or training, required certifications)

Essential

• University degree in occupational safety, environment, sciences, engineering, or related discipline.  
• Minimum of 5 years professional work experience in vaccine manufacturing or a related field.
• Strong English communication skills
• Ability to work independently

 

  Desirable

• Experience with GMP, GLP or ISO 9000 in a Production environment.
• Strong analytical skills, with regard to hazard assessment and control
• Strong teamwork/ interpersonal skills
• Strong communication skills, including the ability to speak in front of groups and write clear, concise reports and correspondence
• Intermediate to advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office
