"This position is slated for team members who are currently working at this facility or complex only. Team members interested in transferring into this position from another Tyson facility should express interest through their local HR Partner. "  This position is responsible for assisting the Supervisor in coordination of the daily responsibilities of the department by insuring the Supervisor’s instructions are communicated to the team members and carried out timely and correctly. This position is also responsible for troubleshooting, maintaining, and repairing all equipment and company assets while maintaining a safe work environment and adhering to Tyson policies and procedures. 

Job Description 

The team member is responsible for assisting management in ensuring the inspection, maintenance, repair, replacement installation and removal of building, production, fire system, material handling, grounds and refrigeration equipment and components of maintenance team members.  This position will also be responsible for assisting management in the following functions:  training and upgrading maintenance employees, reducing unscheduled and crisis work, daily scheduling of PMs and work orders, and maintaining and reducing maintenance budget along with other duties as assigned.  

Specific and numerous duties depend on the task at hand.  Tasks will include kneeling, squatting, crawling and working in awkward positions as required.  Team Members use hand tools, portable power tools and floor mounted machines to bend, weld, cut, grind, shape and fabricate items from wood, stainless steel, iron, aluminum, plastic and other similar materials.  

Maintenance Mechanics are required to successfully pass the Fall Protection, Forklift, Pallet Jack, and Scissor Lift Training and Tests. Work assignments may include tasks at various heights and levels. 

 

Requirements: 

Education:  High School Diploma or equivalent preferred. 

Experience:  Must be a Level 6 General Mechanic or higher. 

Computer Skills:  Must have basic computer skills. 

Communication:  Must have strong verbal and written communication skills.  Must have the ability to complete required paperwork.  Must also be able to effectively communicate between hourly and management Team Members.   

Special Skills:  Must have a good attendance record of no more than six (6) points. Must maintain 9 points or less to retain position. Must have a good safety record; a good safety record consists of not more than one (1) Written Warning for a Safety Violation within the last rolling calendar year, must not have a disciplinary action resulting in Suspension in the last 12 months.
