Your impact at MUFG
You will play an important role in supporting the Japanese Corporate Banking Department by providing operational, administrative and regulatory support to Relationship Managers (RMs), Team Head and Department Head. You will be responsible for ensuring the efficient execution of banking transactions, customer services, reporting requirements and compliance-related activities, while contributing to the department's business objectives and maintaining high standards of operational excellence.
Function positioning
The position forms part of JCBD, which consists of five units:
1) Relationship Management & Business Promotion
2) Administration
3) Cash Management Services (CMS)
4) KYC
5) Credit Analysis
The overall objective of JCBD is to develop and maintain relationships with Japanese corporate clients and to generate sustainable business growth by promoting the Bank's products and services within the established risk and compliance framework.
The role includes the following key responsibilities:
- Manage operational activities related to loans, deposits, FX transactions, and other banking products and services.
- Process and maintain operational documentation, instructions, and customer-related transactions accurately and efficiently.
- Provide timely support to customers via phone and email, resolving queries and escalating issues where appropriate.
- Support account maintenance, customer onboarding, account opening, and periodic customer reviews throughout the client lifecycle.
- Conduct account and transaction monitoring in line with internal policies, regulatory requirements, and risk controls.
- Investigate and resolve operational issues, exceptions, and discrepancies, ensuring timely and effective resolution.
- Assist Relationship Managers with customer servicing, sanctions screening, compliance monitoring, and reporting requirements.
- Coordinate with internal stakeholders and cross-border teams to ensure seamless service delivery and operational excellence.
- Contribute to departmental projects, strategic initiatives, and the achievement of service and business objectives.
- Drive continuous improvement by identifying opportunities for process optimization, automation, digitalization, and enhanced risk management practices.
In order to be successful in the role, you will need the following:
- Preferably 1-3 years of relevant experience in banking operations, corporate banking, customer support, or financial services.
- WO/HBO level educational background, preferably in Economics, Business Administration, Finance or a related discipline.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in both English and Japanese. Dutch language skills are considered an advantage.
- Ability to analyse operational data, identify issues and recommend practical solutions.
- Basic understanding of banking products, financial services and operational processes.
- Demonstrates sound judgment in resolving operational issues and escalating matters when appropriate.
- Develops subject matter expertise in assigned products, processes, or regulatory requirements and supports operational excellence across the team.
