Description
The rate for this position is $18.50 an hour. When determining the salary for an offer, ECFS considers factors including, but not limited to: the scope and responsibilities of the position, internal peer equity, key skills required for the role, the candidate’s work experience, education and training, as well as market and organizational considerations.
Please note that this is an onsite role and is not performed remotely. Ethical Culture Fieldston School retains its right to modify job duties in accordance with changing operational needs.
- Guarding the health and safety of swimmers while in or around the pool.
- Having the ability to lift persons in distress of varying weights on occasion.
- Remaining alert to dangerous situations while sitting, standing, or walking for various lengths of time.
- Assisting with any pool-related responsibilities.
- Enforcing all facility policies, rules, and regulations.
- Completing the daily checklist of rules and safety guidelines for the aquatic area.
- Appropriately addressing student behavioral issues and other challenges that may arise in order to maintain a safe environment and a sense of calm in such situations.
- Understanding and implementing safety requirements.
- Supervising in pool areas as needed throughout the day.
- Fostering positive relationships with team members, staff, visitors, etc.
- Motivating and inspiring your team to achieve goals.
- Performing other duties and tasks as needed and assigned.
- Must be at least 18 years of age and have all current certifications: Red Cross Lifeguard/CPR/ First Aid/AED.
- Prior swim instructor experience is a plus.
- Able to recognize and respond to individuals in distress in emergency situations immediately.
- Must have a strong work ethic, which includes being responsible, dependable, level-headed, flexible, and calm in all situations.
- A strong commitment to safety, exercising sound judgment and maintain a safely conscious approach at all times.
- The ability to be available from 3pm-6pm during the weekdays.
- The ability to lift or pull up to 50lbs and stand for long periods of time.
- Strong communication skills and attention to detail are a must.
- Reliability, punctuality, and consistent attendance.
- A positive attitude and the ability to listen effectively and be receptive to feedback.
- The ability to cultivate a welcoming culture in which all members of our community feel valued and appreciated.
