Shift: Nights


Job Summary:

Responsible for cleaning an assigned area to include patient and non-patient areas. Supervises EVS personnel to ensure that a clean, orderly and attractive condition exists throughout the facility. Monitors infection prevention, waste management and pest control activities as they relate to the environment of care. Inspects assigned areas and trains EVS and Project Techs. Ensures that all assigned tasks are carried out properly, safely and in accordance with all public health and regulatory standards.

  

Demonstrates Competency in the Following Areas:

· Supervises EVS operations in conjunction with the shift Supervisor during the week and solely on assigned weekends. 

· Facilitates first level problem solving for EVS staff and escalates issues to a higher level as needed. 

· Works closely with supervisors and director to provide prompt and appropriate disciplinary action and reward/ recognition.

· Trains new EVS and Project Techs in their assigned area. 

· Leads by example in work and performance through displaying the ability to complete all EVS tasks and assignments accurately and professionally. 

· Inspects and evaluates the physical condition of the facility and takes a proactive approach to solving potential problems before they intensify. Along with taking corrective actions when problems arise.

· Adjusts the work schedule as needed to appropriately achieve balance between customer needs and fiscal limitations.

· Distributes linen and completes paperwork appropriately while maintaining a neat and clean linen processing area. 

· Displays a working knowledge of chemicals, supplies and equipment used in all EVS operations.

· Monitors and controls scrubs by collecting soiled scrubs, laundering and returning to designated departments. 

· Accurately completes departmental paperwork to include daily shift reports, linen billing forms, quality inspections and other paperwork in a timely, legible and complete manner.

Requirements

Professional Requirements:

· Dresses professionally and appropriate for the EVS setting and wears ID badge daily. 

· Completes annual health screening and mandatory in services according to hospital policy.

· Strives to maintain good rapport and appropriate interdepartmental relationships with other hospital departments.

· Displays personal skills such as time and stress management. 

· Written and oral communication skills necessary to conduct training for EVS and Linen Staff. 

· Focuses on quality and customer service to ensure that all tasks are carried out in a proper, safe and timely manner.

· Demonstrates ability to carry out assignments without direct supervision.

· Maintains employee confidentiality concerning disciplinary issues.

· Consistent attendance and punctuality using the time clock properly and consistently along with demonstrating knowledge of department policy concerning requests for time off and reporting absence or tardiness. 

· Leads by example creating and maintaining harmony within the EVS and Linen Departments as well as with other departments and vendors professionally and represents the interest of JCMH in all business conduct.

· Displays adequate knowledge of regulatory requirements as defined by JCAHO, OSHA, EPA and DOT along with state and local standards of facility maintenance and care.

· Uses hospital and departmental policies and procedures to lead, train and council EVS staff. 

· Supervises in a consistent manner dedicated to making decisions on a fair and documented standard ensuring all staff are treated equally and professionally and communicates issues more appropriately handled at a higher level promptly and consistently. 

· Takes initiative and ownership of the EVS Departments including the quality and outcome of work performed on the shift along with any problems that may arise in task completion. 


Regulatory Requirements:

· High School Diploma or equivalent is required.

· One-year experience in housekeeping is required. Health care setting experience preferred.

· Must have knowledge of proper housekeeping technique and procedure.

· Previous work history which demonstrates steady attendance and punctuality is essential.

· Must pass the EVS Ability Test with 80% or greater as given by the Human Resources Department


Language Skills:

· Ability to read and communicate effectively in English.
