Position Summary
We are seeking a Design Engineer to join our engineering team and play a key contributing role in new product R&D. This is not a lead role — the person will work as part of an established cross-functional development team of engineers, project managers, and sales, executing design work under existing team direction. The role spans from early design through production, with strong involvement seeing designs through installation.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and detail mechanical designs in SolidWorks, including sheet metal components and assemblies
- Apply design for manufacturability (DFM) principles to ensure designs are practical to fabricate and cost-effective to produce
- Support R&D efforts across new and existing product lines
- Create and maintain engineering documentation: drawings, BOMs, part numbers, and change records
- Collaborate with engineers, project managers, and sales team members as part of the development team — contributing designs, not directing the team
- Follow projects through production and into the install phase, supporting manufacturing and field issues as they arise
- Manage own workload and deliverables with strong organization and follow-through, keeping projects on schedule
- Bring creative problem-solving to design challenges across product lines
Team Structure
This role reports into the Engineering department and works alongside a development team consisting of engineers, project managers, and sales staff. This is a contributing team member role, not a leadership position.
