Shape the next generation of teachers by putting the Science of Learning at the heart of effective classroom practice.

Are you passionate about translating the Science of Learning into meaningful teaching practice? Join the Macquarie School of Education as a Lecturer (Teaching and Leadership) – Science of Learning and Effective Pedagogy, where you’ll help prepare future teachers through our initial teacher education programs.

Join one of Australia’s leading providers of teacher education and contribute to a School committed to evidence-based practice, innovation, and improving outcomes for children, families, schools, and communities.

THE ROLE

Macquarie School of Education is seeking to appoint a Lecturer in the Science of Learning and Effective Pedagogy to contribute to the development, leadership and delivery of initial teacher education. The focus of the role is the application of the science of learning across the primary and secondary phases of our initial teacher education courses, helping our teacher education students understand both the principles and practices of learning-science-informed effective pedagogy.

In this role you will:

  • Contribute to pedagogy, curriculum and learning resource development across initial teacher education courses.

  • Design, deliver and manage teaching and assessment, including lectures, tutorials and high-quality professional learning for in-service teachers.

  • Provide leadership in our teaching of the Strong Beginnings core content areas, 'brain and learning' and 'effective pedagogical practices'.

  • Engage in leadership and scholarship related to teacher education.

  • Model inclusive teaching that recognises intersectional inequities and responds to the varied needs of students from diverse backgrounds.

  • Contribute to Initial Teacher Education course leadership, administration and staff professional development.
