Part-Time Campus Safety Officer
Position Description – Parking Enforcement and Transportation
Position Summary:
The Part-Time Campus Safety Officer is responsible for supporting the safety and security mission of the university by providing parking enforcement, transportation services, and general campus safety functions. Officers promote a safe, welcoming, and service-oriented environment while enforcing campus parking regulations, assisting students, faculty, staff, and visitors, and responding to routine safety concerns.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Parking Enforcement
- Patrol campus parking lots and roadways by foot, golf cart, or patrol vehicle.
- Enforce university parking regulations in a fair, consistent, and professional manner.
- Issue parking citations for violations in accordance with university policies.
- Monitor reserved, handicap-accessible, visitor, fire lane, and service vehicle parking areas.
- Report abandoned, disabled, or illegally parked vehicles.
- Assist with parking during campus events, athletic competitions, commencement, and special activities.
- Direct vehicle and pedestrian traffic during periods of heavy congestion.
- Document parking violations and maintain accurate enforcement records.
- Assist in identifying parking concerns and recommend improvements.
Transportation Duties
- Provide safe transportation for students, faculty, staff, and authorized visitors using department vehicles.
- Transport students requiring assistance due to illness, injury, or emergency situations when appropriate.
- Assist stranded motorists with approved services such as vehicle unlocks or jump-starts, when authorized by department policy.
- Conduct routine inspections of transportation vehicles before and after each shift.
- Report vehicle maintenance concerns promptly.
- Maintain transportation logs and documentation.
Hours of assignment are Monday through Friday from 8:00 am – 12:00 pm.
