Position Summary
The Treatment Plant Operator will be accountable for managing the day-to-day operations at each our Thiopaq and PFAS removal facilities. Key responsibilities include but are not limited to maintenance and repair of the landfill gas and leachate systems, focusing on a safe efficient operation of each facility, providing support to landfill staff, and maintaining a safe work environment.
Hiring Range: $24.00 - $30.00 per hour
Key Responsibilities
- Complies with Casella, OSHA, EPA and MEDEP safety, spill prevention, and environmental regulations, policies, and procedures to create and maintain a safe work environment.
- Oversees daily operations, including system preventative maintenance activities, schedules personnel, schedules maintenance, and regularly communicates facility status to supervisor
- Develops and maintains spare parts inventory program and well as files operating, compliance, and maintenance records as required to implement proper operational setpoints based on landfill needs, system performance, and regulatory requirements.
- Calibrates process controls and sensors to maintain chemical balance and peak performance of desulphurization as well as overseeing portable monitoring equipment to maintain a working knowledge of facility resources and response protocol.
- Performs rounds and inspects and records appropriate parameters on rounds sheet and monitors component systems such as bioreactors, compressors, centrifuge, process controls, pumps, motors, valves and associated equipment to identify, inspect, and record system component malfunctions.
- Posts entries on operation, inspection, and maintenance records, by hand and/or with a computer as well as records meter readings, process activity, compliance data, and other data as required to furnish information for reports in a timely manner.
- Inspects, tests, and services component systems such as blower skids, process controls, pumps, motors valves, lubrication, cooling, air pressure regulators, centrifuge, compressors, and other associated equipment to determine adequacy of maintenance.
- Provides monitoring, maintenance, record keeping, and troubleshooting support of landfill gas systems, including the landfill gas flare.
- Participates in training and other learning opportunities to expand knowledge of the company and its products and services and performs any other duties needed to help drive our vision, fulfill our mission, and/or abide by our core values.
Education, Experience & Qualifications
This role requires strong relationship management, communication, listening, and problem-solving skills, along with the ability to collaborate effectively in a team-oriented environment. Candidates should have knowledge of landfill systems, including construction, operation, maintenance, landfill gas treatment processes, and rotating/compression equipment. Preferred qualifications include 1-2 years of landfill operations or related experience and an interest in environmental sustainability. A high school diploma or GED is required, and candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
