JOB PURPOSE:
Elbow Room will be joining the Lewis & Clark community this fall working in the the Hoffman Gallery. Elbow Room is a community art studio and gallery in SE Portland focused on providing material support, mentorship, and meaningful exhibition and collaboration opportunities for artists with intellectual and developmental disabilities. In our work, we center the individual interests, needs, and
goals of the artists we support, and maintain an inclusive space for artists to develop a practice and participate in a shared creative community. For three months in the Fall, Elbow Room will utilize the back space of the Hoffman Gallery as a satellite studio and a site to develop Dialtones, a collaborative
audio project featuring contributions from a wide range of Elbow Room artists. Visitors to the space can engage with the project via a “payphone” installed in the front gallery, where they can call in and listen to audio dispatches from our work.
Student assistant will help in the gallery on Mondays.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Tasks might include: opening and closing the gallery/staffing the gallery during open hours, working with artists, welcoming people to the space, video recording, and conducting research.

SCHEDULE:
The gallery is open on Mondays.
RATE OF PAY:
$16.80/hr
WORK STUDY REQUIREMENT:
Work Study is required for this position.
