Title: Staff Engineering Program Manager
Department: Engineering
Reports To: Senior Vice President of Engineering
FLSA Status: Exempt
Location: Remote / Hybrid (As applicable)
Job Summary
Prove is seeking a highly collaborative, technically minded Staff Engineering Program Manager to partner closely with Engineering Leadership. This is not a passive status-tracking role; you will be the ultimate enabler for our engineering organization, ensuring that critical initiatives are executed smoothly, engineering's voice is represented early, and delivery blockages are dismantled.
The ideal candidate bridges the gap between Product, Solutions, Operations, and Engineering. You will work directly with Individual Contributors (IC3+), Architects, and Engineering Managers (EMs) to translate strategic vision into seamless execution, tracking high-priority initiatives from intake to completion without letting critical requests fall through the cracks.
Key Responsibilities:
- Streamlining Intake & Cross-Functional Delivery: Act as the primary engineering representative during early intake and cross-functional triage meetings. Ensure customer requests and "quick wins" are not stalled in product or solutions pipelines.
- Process Architecture & Ticket Lifecycle: Own the end-to-end routing of urgent requests. Ensure that decisions made in leadership meetings seamlessly translate into action items—specifically bridging the gap between high-level EPD planning boards and team-level engineering Jira boards.
- Operational Tracking: Follow through on dependencies with operations and product pods to ensure engineering teams have clear requirements from day one. Track items to completion while empowering (not micromanaging) the development teams.
- Driving Strategic Engineering Initiatives: Help shepherd the architectural transition away from our monolith. Ensure that whether an interface interacts via BUILDER or OPERATOR, Prove products deliver unified, consistent responses.
- Risk & Audit Management: Coordinate and drive internal engineering audits (e.g., service resiliency questionnaires). Follow up across multiple teams to identify single points of failure (SPOFs) and proactively flag business risks to leadership.
- Visibility & Dashboards: Partner with leadership to build, maintain, and scale engineering visibility dashboards that provide executive-level insights into product health and team velocity.
- Cross-Functional Alignment: Help navigate the complexities of our 15+ product pods. Act as a stabilizing force to reduce ownership friction, clarify boundaries, and ensure complex service rollouts have clear ownership and alignment across the org.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Technical Literacy: Thoroughly understand software architecture concepts (e.g., monolith vs. microservices, API versioning, data flows). Ability to confidently discuss technical requirements with an IC3, Architect, or Engineering Manager.
- Execution-Focused: Proven track record of taking a leader’s vision or a high-level meeting note and turning it into a structured, trackable project plan.
- Jira & Tooling Power User: Deep familiarity with mapping workflows across high-level planning boards down to granular engineering Jira boards.
- Diplomacy & Influence: Ability to build bridges across fractured product pods, clarify ambiguous ownership boundaries, and drive alignment without formal authority.
- Proactive Problem Solver: Anticipate bottlenecks in the intake funnel and clear them before they disrupt engineering workflows.
- Promote, maintain and enhance our cultural values of humility, passion, inclusion, and leadership.
- Strong passion for learning about our products and markets through in-house and external training.
- Experience in high-growth /pre-IPO Technology companies.
