As our Commercial Plumbing Service Manager, you will be responsible for the successful management, profitability, and overall performance of the commercial plumbing service department.
Key Responsibilities of the Commercial Plumbing Service Manager include:
- Lead the day-to-day operations and strategic direction of the commercial plumbing service department.
- Develop plans for departmental growth while monitoring budgets, performance, and industry trends.
- Forecast workforce needs based on schedules, seasonal demand, and business conditions.
- Lead, coach, develop, and support commercial plumbing service team members. Oversee training, performance management, and employee development.
- Manage departmental purchasing and ensure appropriate parts, materials, tools, and equipment are available when needed. Evaluate vendors, products, pricing, quality, and service to support efficient and profitable operations.
- Take ownership of departmental financial performance, with a strong focus on achieving gross profit goals.
- Drive profitable revenue by supporting sales activity and identifying opportunities to provide additional services to customers. Assist with customer needs assessments, recommendations, estimates, and closing sales.
- Manage labor and material costs through effective staffing, productivity, purchasing, inventory, quality, and operational controls.
- Review job costs and identify variances, opportunities, and corrective actions. Monitor accounts receivable and help ensure work is completed, invoiced, closed, and collected within required timeframes.
- Monitor scheduling and dispatch to ensure technicians and installers are deployed effectively.
- Work with sales personnel to ensure sold projects can be executed successfully and meet Westbrook’s quality expectations.
- Maintain compliance with applicable licensing, permitting, regulatory, and safety requirements.
Qualified candidates will have:
- 10+ years of professional trade experience, including applicable trade-specific professional certifications.
- 5+ years of supervisory experience.
- 2+ years of management experience.
- Demonstrated ability to lead teams responsible for troubleshooting, servicing, and installing commercial plumbing systems.
- Strong understanding of commercial plumbing operations and industry trends.
- Ability to understand financial performance, job costing, labor costs, material costs, and gross profit.
- Strong leadership, coaching, decision-making, and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to analyze information and use data to make effective business decisions.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; college degree preferred.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to meet applicable company driving requirements.
