Our employees are not only part of history, they're making history.Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems has an opening for a Structural Design Engineer or Principal Structural Design Engineer to join our team of qualified individuals.
The position will be located in Palmdale, CA and is assigned to the 4/10-1st Shift, (Mon-Thu) or (Tues-Fri) - 10 hours/day schedule.
Roles and responsibilities:
Develop “Design for Producibility” solutions to difficult problems that are thorough, imaginative, practical, and consistent with program objectives.
Coordination and clear communication with other disciplines during the development of design solutions.
Concise presentation and explanation of structural issues/solutions to internal management and customer representatives.
Development and review of completed models, drawings, and repairs for accuracy, clarity, and completeness.
Evaluation of engineering products for conformity to standards, procedures, and specifications.
Supervise design solutions from initial concept to final implementation.
This position can be filled at an Engineer (Level 2) or a Principal Engineer (Level 3) level based on the qualifications listed below.
Basic Qualifications:
Basic qualifications for an Engineer Structural include a Bachelor's in Science, Technology, Engineering or Math (STEM) and at least 2 years of relevant experience, a Master's Degree in STEM with no years of experience.
Basic qualifications for a Principal Engineer Structural include a Bachelor's in Science, Technology, Engineering or Math (STEM) and at least 5 years of relevant experience, a Master's Degree in STEM with 3 years of relevant experience, or a PhD Degree with no experience.
High level of proficiency using Unigraphics Nx or CATIA V5 in the development of aircraft structures and components.
This position requires a current in-scope US Government Secret Clearance
Must have the ability to obtain a Special Access Program (SAP) prior to start. This SAP must be obtained within a reasonable period of time, as determined by the company to meet its business needs.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience working on Special Access Programs
Experience working on military aircraft.
