Join a collaborative and high-performing research community where your expertise will help shape and strengthen research success across one of UQ’s largest and most research-active schools. As one of three Principal Research Administration Officers in the School, you will provide leadership to the School’s Research Administration Office portfolios and work closely with the Director of Research and School Manager to provide strategic, operational and project management support across the research lifecycle. This is a purposeful and influential professional role, offering the opportunity to work alongside visionary researchers and contribute to UQ’s commitment to creating change together through world-leading research and innovation.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Contribute to the leadership and management of the School’s Research Administration Office to ensure the efficient delivery of pre-award and post-award research administration services.

  • Providing strategic advice and high-level support to the Director of Research, while developing and maintaining research administration policies, procedures and initiatives.

  • Supporting researchers with grant applications, funding opportunities, budgeting, ethics requirements and research performance reporting.

  • Building strong partnerships with internal and external stakeholders to promote research excellence, coordinate research initiatives and drive continuous improvement across research administration processes.

About You

You are a proactive, collaborative and highly organised professional who thrives in a complex research environment and enjoys supporting others to achieve outstanding outcomes.

  • A degree with at least four (4) years subsequent relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

  • Demonstrated experience in research administration within a university environment, including pre-award and post-award research support.

  • Knowledge of research administration policies, procedures and funding agency requirements, or the capacity to quickly acquire this expertise.

  • Strong analytical and research skills, including experience with research data analysis, reporting and administration of information systems and databases.

  • Excellent organisational, problem-solving and project management skills, with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.

  • Demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities, meet deadlines and work both independently and as part of a busy team environment.

  • Exceptional interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to build productive relationships with researchers, professional staff and senior stakeholders.

  • A demonstrated commitment to delivering high-quality customer service and fostering a supportive, inclusive and collaborative workplace culture.
