Overview
Academic Alliance in Dermatology is seeking a PRN Medical Assistant/Receptionist to provide as-needed coverage across our Tampa Bay clinics. This position supports both general and cosmetic dermatology services and is ideal for someone who is adaptable, dependable, and comfortable working with different providers, teams, and clinic workflows.
This role is best suited for candidates seeking flexible clinical experience who can maintain consistent weekly availability.
Schedule & Coverage
- PRN / as-needed position based on clinic staffing needs
- Consistent availability required on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays from 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM
- Coverage needs may be communicated anywhere from the same day to several weeks in advance
- Weekly hours and shifts will vary based on clinic needs and are not guaranteed
- This role includes both clinical Medical Assistant and front desk responsibilities based on clinic needs
Location & Travel
This is a float position supporting multiple clinic locations throughout the Tampa Bay area and surrounding communities. Candidates must be comfortable traveling between locations as needed.

Compensation
Hourly rate: $23.00 - 24.00/hour, depending on experience
Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities
- Room patients and prepare them for dermatology visits
- Review and update medical history, medications, allergies, and visit concerns
- Scribe for providers and document patient visits accurately in the EMR
- Assist providers with biopsies, excisions, injections, and cosmetic procedures
- Set up and turn over exam and procedure rooms
- Prepare instruments, supplies, dressings, and procedure trays
- Label and process pathology specimens
- Provide patients with provider-directed instructions, including wound care
- Clean and sterilize instruments and restock clinical supplies
- Assist with front desk duties, including patient check-in/check-out, scheduling, and answering phones
- Adapt to different providers, clinic workflows, and locations across the Tampa Bay area
Qualifications
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required
- Experience in a clinical setting (Medical Assistant, CNA, or similar) strongly preferred
- Completion of a Medical Assistant or related healthcare program preferred
- Interest in dermatology or aesthetics is a plus
- Pre-med, pre-PA, or post-baccalaureate candidates encouraged to apply
Work Environment & Physical Demands
- Frequent standing and walking throughout the day
- Regular use of hands for clinical tasks and equipment
- Bending, reaching, and assisting during procedures
- Ability to lift up to 30 lbs
- Exposure to standard clinical materials, including sharps and medical instruments
