Purpose of the Role
Market Supervision forms part of the Market Regulation department and is responsible for monitoring secondary market trading across London Stock Exchange ("LSE"), Turquoise Global Holdings Limited ("TGHL") and Turquoise Global Holdings Europe B.V. ("TGHE").
This role supports the real-time and post-trade supervision of trading activity across LSE's extended-hours trading model, LSE 24. The role contributes to the orderly operation of the market through the monitoring, investigation and escalation of unusual trading activity, market events, potential market abuse and breaches of Exchange Rules.
The role requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, an interest in financial markets and the ability to assess trading activity within established supervisory frameworks and procedures.
Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities
The role will include some or all of the following:
Perform real-time and post-trade monitoring of LSE 24 activity, identifying unusual trading behaviour, market events and participant activity requiring further review.
Investigate and escalate unusual trading patterns, potential market abuse indicators, disorderly trading conditions and potential breaches of Exchange Rules.
Support the monitoring and management of trading halts, volatility events, trade cancellations and other operational or market structure incidents during non-UK working hours.
Analyse trading data, surveillance outputs and market information to support supervisory assessments and investigations.
Prepare clear and accurate investigation summaries, reports, escalations and management information.
Respond to member firm enquiries and assist with supervisory follow-up activity under established procedures.
Apply knowledge of LSEG rule books, market structure, trading systems and venue controls when reviewing trading activity.
Support the maintenance and continuous improvement of surveillance controls, monitoring procedures and operational playbooks.
Work collaboratively with Operations, Compliance, Technology and Regulatory teams to support effective market oversight across multiple time zones.
Contribute to testing, readiness activities and process improvements supporting the continued development of the LSE 24 operating model.
Qualifications and Experience
Essential
Experience within financial markets, market operations, market supervision, surveillance, compliance, exchange operations or a similar environment.
Ability to analyse data and identify exceptions, trends or unusual activity.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with excellent attention to detail.
Ability to follow established procedures and make sound decisions in a time-sensitive environment.
Effective verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to build effective working relationships with internal stakeholders and market participants.
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other standard analytical tools.
Desirable
Experience supporting market monitoring, surveillance or regulatory investigations.
Knowledge of MiFID II, MiFIR, MAR and their application to UK and European trading venues.
Understanding of financial market structure, trading venue operations and the order and trade lifecycle.
Experience monitoring equities, ETFs, ETPs, fixed income instruments or RFQ-based markets.
Familiarity with trading venue surveillance systems and market monitoring tools.
Understanding of extended-hours trading models and associated market structure considerations.
Experience using SQL, Python or other data analysis tools.
Knowledge of Exchange Rules and market abuse concepts.

LSEG is committed to offering competitive Compensation and Benefits. The anticipated base salary for this position is $75,700 - $126,100.Please be aware base salary ranges may vary by geographic location, city and state. In addition to our offered base salary, this role is eligible for our Annual Incentive Plan (AIP/”bonus plan”). Target AIP rates will be commensurate with role level and posted career stage. Individual salary will be reflective of job related knowledge, skills and equivalent experience.
