Responsibilities

We currently have a great opportunity available for a Director, Scientific Affairs - Hemostasis. The Director, Scientific Affairs leads the scientific strategy for hemostasis/coagulation, translating evidence into portfolio, commercialization, and stakeholder-engagement priorities. The role aligns Marketing, Sales, Training and Development, Regulatory, Quality, Global R&D, and Business Development around an integrated Scientific Affairs plan. Externally, the Director builds trusted relationships with international, national, and regional clinical experts, pathologists, laboratorians, and professional and patient associations.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

 

1. Build and nurture strong scientific relationships with international, national, and regional clinical experts and professional and patient associations2. Maintain deep scientific and medical knowledge and provide balanced, accurate, and timely peer-to-peer discussions across on-label use and respond to unsolicited questions involving unapproved uses, within compliance standards.3. Define and execute an evidence-generation plan and supports the clinical utility and patient impact of the current and future portfolio and informs scientific and commercial priorities.4. Contribute to the preparation and review of abstracts, posters, manuscripts and other scientific publications5. Define and deliver multi-channel external education strategy for healthcare professionals6. Support the development and delivery of training programs for internal and external stakeholders (e.g. sales, marketing, medical, business development) on the clinical and scientific utility of assigned portfolio7. Serve as scientific expert for commercial teams to review and support marketing programs, materials, and product launches8. Provide expert opinion and feedback to global teams to ensure appropriate design of global studies9. Other duties as assigned.

 

Percentage of Travel: Up  to 30%

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Science required. MD, PhD, or other healthcare professional /advanced scientific degree strongly preferred.
  • Board certification is preferred

  • 7-10 years of relevant post-graduate clinical or medical experience, including leadership in a clinical laboratory or medical directorship, medical or scientific affairs, or strategic clinical commercialization.

  • Minimum 3-5 years diagnostic industry experience (Scientific Affairs / Clinical Affairs / Medical Affairs / Regulatory Affairs)

  • Demonstrated ability to maintain scientific credibility while being commercially supportive, and to communicate scientific results and effectively respond to queries from KOLs, health care providers, and other external stakeholders

  • Exceptional written and oral communication skills, including scientific presentations, executive briefings, and external engagement.

  • Strong executive presence with the ability to influence senior leaders and external stakeholders.

  • Ability to bridge clinical/medical science with commercial and strategic objectives.

  • Deep understanding of FDA regulations, clinical trials, CLIA and CAP environments, and diagnostic industry standards.

  • Strategic, entrepreneurial mindset with comfort operating in newly created or evolving roles.

  • Ability to influence others on scientifically challenging information

  • Demonstrated ability to lead through change and ambiguity, adapt strategies in dynamic environments, make sound decisions with incomplete information, manage competing priorities, and guide teams through execution.

 

This job requires satisfaction of the credentialing requirements of Sysmex’s customers, including hospitals and other healthcare facilities, which generally includes proof of current vaccinations for measles, mumps, rubella, varicella (chicken pox), and COVID-19. 

 

The salary range for this role is $190,000-$252,000.  Within this range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. The total compensation package for this position also includes a choice of health care plan (medical, vision, and dental insurance), an annual incentive bonus, ( paid time off, parental leave, bereavement leave and a 401(K) for all eligible employees.
