The Control Valve Application Engineering Expert serves as the highest-level technical authority for control valve application, sizing, selection, and process optimization. This role provides global technical leadership, supports strategic customer opportunities, drives application excellence, and mentors engineering teams while ensuring compliance with industry standards and customer specifications. 

With over 12+ years of experience, the individual is recognized as a subject matter expert in control valve technologies, severe service applications, fluid dynamics, process control, and valve lifecycle management. The role collaborates closely with Sales, Product Management, Engineering, Manufacturing, EPCs, End Users, and Field Services organizations to deliver optimal valve solutions that improve customer performance, reliability, and operational efficiency.

As a Control Valve Application Engineering Expert, you will be responsible for:

Application Engineering Excellence 

  • Review and approve critical control valve sizing and selection calculations. 

  • Troubleshoot challenging customer applications and provide mitigation recommendations. 

  • Validate compliance with IEC 60534, ISA standards, ASME B16.34, API requirements, PED, SIL, NACE, and customer specifications. 

  • Support digital tools, sizing software, configuration platforms, and automation initiatives. 

  • Act as technical advisor for strategic projects, EPC engagements, and major customer opportunities. 

  • Provides technical expertise and develops technical solutions (configuration, performance estimation, economics, etc.) as part of the pre-ITO process while interfacing with the commercial team and implement in sizing and selection software’s. 

  • Possesses a deep understanding of relevant markets and customer economic value that aid winning bid strategies. To include 'ITO': Technical analysis of client needs, Definition and optimization of the products, scope (description), schedule, industrial scheme, cost, considering contract and internal policies and procedures 

  • Develop and establish process for quick turnaround time on quote submission with required details such as lead time, GAD, Pricing availability through process automation 

  • Maintaining awareness of competitive control valve technology and application engineering philosophies 

  • Drive excellence in business Sizing and selection software platforms to ensure their accuracy and efficiencies. 

 

Product & Technology Engineering 

  • Collaborate with Product Management and R&D teams to identify emerging application requirements. 

  • Drive innovation in control valve technology, severe service solutions, smart instrumentation, and sustainability initiatives. 

  • Support new product development and product enhancement programs. 

  • Lead lessons-learned and field feedback integration into product improvements. 

  • Establish application engineering processes, documentation standards, and technical review practices. 

  • Drive technical risk assessment and validation activities. 

  • Support engineering change management and lifecycle management processes. 

  • Ensure alignment with global engineering standards and regulatory requirements. 

 

 

Mentorship & Capability Building 

  • Coach and mentor application engineers, product engineers, sales team & channel partners. 

  • Conduct global technical training programs. 

  • Develop competency frameworks and technical certification programs. 

  • Build organizational expertise in flow control technologies and process optimization. 

  • Developing team culture with speed, customer focus, proactive thinking & technical expertise among in broader regional / cross functional team 

 

Technical Leadership 

  • Serve as the global technical authority for control valve applications across process industries including Oil & Gas, LNG, Power, Petrochemicals, Chemicals, Hydrogen, and Industrial Processes. Lead complex application reviews involving severe service conditions such as high-pressure drops, flashing, cavitation, erosion, noise, and multiphase flow. 

  • Provide technical guidance on valve sizing, actuator sizing, trim selection, materials selection, and control strategies. 

  • Develop and maintain application engineering standards, best practices, and design guidelines.

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Instrumentation Engineering, or related field. 

  • Master's Degree preferred. 

  • Minimum 12+ years of experience in Control Valve Application Engineering, Product Engineering, Process Engineering, or Valve Technology. 

  • Demonstrated expertise in severe service and critical control applications. 

  • Strong understanding of process control systems and plant operations. 

 

Technical Expertise 

  • Control valve sizing per IEC 60534 / ISA standards. 

  • Cavitation, flashing, erosion, and noise prediction. 

  • Severe service trim technologies. 

  • Pressure management and process control. 

  • Actuator sizing and selection. 

  • Materials engineering and corrosion management. 

  • ASME B16.34, API, NACE, PED, SIL, IEC, ISA standards. 

  • Fluid dynamics, thermodynamics, and process engineering. 

  • Valve diagnostics and reliability engineering. 

  • Digital engineering tools, PLM, ERP, and application software.
