Animal Tracks is a small animal clinic that offers a wide range of services including vaccines, surgery, dental cleanings, in-hospital bloodwork, digital radiographs, Ultrasound, boarding, and doggie daycare. The Animal Tracks team is a group of caring individuals dedicated to providing quality pet care in a warm, friendly, and family-like environment. Position Purpose

Lead the Future of a Growing Practice in Decatur, Alabama

An exciting opportunity is available for an experienced Managing Veterinarian (MDVM) to lead a thriving small animal practice in Decatur, Alabama.

We're looking for a veterinarian with 3+ years of companion animal experience who is ready to step into a leadership role. Previous Managing Veterinarian experience isn't required—we're looking for someone who enjoys mentoring others, leading by example, and helping build a positive, collaborative culture while continuing to practice exceptional medicine.

The practice is preparing to move into a beautiful new, state-of-the-art hospital in a prime location, creating an incredible opportunity to help shape the future of the practice. As Managing Veterinarian, you'll play an important role in guiding the medical direction of the hospital, supporting and mentoring fellow veterinarians, and leading the team through an exciting new chapter of growth.

You'll continue practicing high-quality medicine while working alongside an experienced support team and caring for a loyal client base that values compassionate, personalized care.

Essential Responsibilities

What You'll Do

  • Provide high-quality medical and surgical care, including wellness exams, diagnostics, dentistry, treatment planning, and surgery
  • Build lasting client relationships through clear communication, preventive care education, and compassionate end-of-life guidance
  • Lead by example while maintaining the highest standards of medical care and ethical practice
  • Mentor and support associate veterinarians through collaboration and day-to-day coaching
  • Foster a positive, team-oriented culture focused on exceptional patient care
  • Maintain accurate medical records and ensure compliance with veterinary regulations and medical protocol

Requirements/Qualifications

Qualifications

  • Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM or VMD) degree from an AVMA-accredited veterinary school
  • Active Alabama veterinary license (or ability to obtain)
  • DEA license (or eligibility to obtain)
  • 3+ years of companion animal clinical experience preferred
  • Previous leadership or mentorship experience is a plus, but not required
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Collaborative leadership style with a passion for developing others
  • Commitment to exceptional patient care and client service
  • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds independently and assist with larger patients or equipment as needed

Pay Range

USD $115,000.00 - USD $150,000.00 /Yr.
