Overview
We are seeking a talented and experienced Architect – Landscaping to oversee landscape architecture and site landscaping works for a major development project in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. The successful candidate will be responsible for supervising landscape construction activities, ensuring compliance with approved designs, specifications, sustainability requirements, quality standards, and project schedules. Working closely with the Resident Engineer, landscape consultants, contractors, architects, and multidisciplinary engineering teams, the Architect – Landscaping will play a key role in delivering high-quality outdoor environments that enhance the functionality, aesthetics, and sustainability of the development.
Your role
- Supervise and monitor landscape construction works to ensure compliance with approved drawings, specifications, and contract requirements.
- Review landscape architectural designs, shop drawings, material submissions, and technical documentation.
- Inspect and monitor hardscape works including paving, plazas, walkways, retaining walls, site furniture, water features, and outdoor recreational facilities.
- Supervise softscape works including planting, irrigation systems, turf installation, trees, shrubs, ground cover, and planting beds.
- Ensure landscape works comply with approved design intent, sustainability objectives, and project quality standards.
- Coordinate with architectural, civil, structural, MEP, irrigation, and infrastructure teams to resolve interface and coordination issues.
- Review contractor method statements, work procedures, and material submittals related to landscape works.
- Verify compliance of landscape materials, plants, irrigation equipment, and site furnishings with approved specifications.
- Monitor contractor performance and progress against approved landscape construction schedules.
- Conduct regular site inspections and prepare inspection reports, site observations, and progress updates.
- Ensure appropriate site preparation, soil treatments, grading, drainage, and irrigation installations are completed according to project requirements.
- Monitor implementation of sustainable landscaping practices, water conservation measures, and environmental requirements.
- Participate in project coordination meetings, design review sessions, and progress meetings.
- Support quality assurance and quality control activities related to landscape installations.
- Identify defects, non-conformities, and workmanship issues and recommend corrective actions.
- Coordinate landscape testing, irrigation commissioning, and plant establishment inspections.
- Assist with snagging, de-snagging, punch-list closure, and final acceptance inspections.
- Support project handover activities and ensure all landscape documentation and as-built records are complete.
- Ensure compliance with Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) requirements during landscape construction works.
- Maintain accurate records of inspections, approvals, testing results, and site correspondence.
About you
- Bachelor’s Degree in Landscape Architecture, Architecture, Urban Design, or a related discipline.
- Minimum 8+ years of overall professional experience in landscape architecture, landscape construction, or site supervision.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in landscape supervision or landscape architectural construction projects.
- Proven experience on large-scale developments, hospitality projects, resorts, convention centers, mixed-use developments, public realm projects, urban parks, or commercial developments.
- Experience within Site Supervision Consultancy, PMC, or Engineering Consultancy environments is highly preferred.
- Strong knowledge of landscape construction methodologies, hardscape and softscape works, irrigation systems, and site development.
- Experience reviewing landscape shop drawings, material submittals, planting plans, and irrigation designs.
- Familiarity with sustainable landscape design principles and water-efficient landscaping practices.
- Knowledge of local and international landscape standards, specifications, and best practices.
- Understanding of plant selection, planting techniques, soil preparation, and irrigation requirements suitable for arid climates.
- Experience in quality control, inspections, testing, and commissioning of landscape systems.
- Strong coordination and stakeholder management skills.
- Previous experience working on projects in Saudi Arabia or the GCC region is highly desirable.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Adobe Creative Suite, Microsoft Office, and other landscape-related software is advantageous.
- Excellent communication, reporting, and presentation skills.
- Fluency in English is required; Arabic language skills are an advantage.
