Be part of history in the making. AstraZeneca is building its first biologics manufacturing campus in Singapore — a groundbreaking USD 1.5 billion investment that will serve as a global hub for innovation and excellence.

This innovative facility will deliver end-to-end Antibody-Drug Conjugate (ADC) capabilities with different manufacturing units/buildings in one campus

  • Small molecule- chemical API production

  • Large molecule- monoclonal antibody manufacturing

  • Conjugation

  • Fill-and-finish operations, including sterile filling and lyophilization

  • Final secondary packaging

The campus will be equipped with modern digital and automation infrastructure, enabling autonomous manufacturing powered by artificial intelligence. In addition, it will be designed for carbon neutrality, embedding sustainability into every aspect of operations and setting a new benchmark for environmentally responsible biologics' manufacturing.

Job Description & Reporting Line

A professional engineer providing technical, operational and project management delivery across a portfolio of programs and projects. Either manages a team of professional engineers supporting a broad range of areas for an operational plant, or plans and coordinates specialist engineering projects to support activities or maintain equipment in own area of expertise.

This role reports into the Director Asset Management and Maintenance.

General/Typical Accountabilities

  • Contributes to the development and implements operational goals to achieve strategic objectives in field of expertise in maintenance for all campus equipment and engineering infrastructure 
  • Collaborates and holds accountabilities with Global /Site Engineering in project execution and contributes to achieve operational readiness meeting AstraZeneca’s policies, procedures and standards
  • Manages timeline & scope of engineering programs within own business area
  • Acts as lead engineer for a significant functional Engineering area or manages group of project engineers accountable to deliver their own portfolio of programs and projects from inception to completion
  • Applies core technical leadership into daily operation providing support and consultation to stake-holders
  • Manages expectations of business stake-holders relevant to own area of control and ensures optimized demand vs. supply management
  • Communicates business needs and helps translate these into tangible and value creating actions
  • Co-ordinates resources in team and across the department and facilitates efficiency by removing roadblocks
  • Actively controls supplier performance and ensures reliable, compliant and cost-efficient operation
  • Translates business needs into timely implementation of processes and gains formal consensus by stake-holders
  • Owns and implements KPI'-s across productivity, quality, safety, schedule consistency and cost
  • Creates an inclusive and collaborative culture and achieves best in class performance within the team
  • Develops analytical problem-solving mind-set, driven by data analytics and application of smart technologies
  • Develops and cultivates technical expertise and knowledge within project team or broader Engineering function by disseminating best -practices and sharing knowledge across functions and project teams
  • Contributes and advocates to the Continuous Improvement mind--set and enables goals in lean / cost efficient operations, autonomous manufacturing, environmental sustainability and technology introduction

Essential Skills

  • Bachelor ’s- Degree in Engineering
  • Professional Engineering Qualifications
  • Sound knowledge of cGMP, Safety, Health and Environment and local regulatory requirements
  • Sound experience in day-to-day operations of maintenance, trouble shooting, repairs  
  • Project management, change - management skills
  • Technical mastery in core Engineering area, and competence in others, Experience in leading teams and suppliers / contractors

Desirable

  • Undergraduate degree in an Engineering field or equivalent experience.
  • Extensive experience in line management, technical support, and overseeing projects, Facility startup and ops readiness preparation
