Job Title: Accounts Payable Staff Accountant
Reports To: Controller
FLSA Status: Exempt
Department: Administrative Level: P3
Job Purpose:
An Accounts Payable Staff Accountant manages daily vendor payments, processes invoices, matches purchase orders, reconciles accounts, and assists with month-end financial closing using Sage Intacct. This hybrid role blends routine accounts payable tasks with broader general ledger accounting duties.
Position Summary:
The Accounts Payable Staff Accountant ensures accurate, timely processing of all company disbursements and supports the accounting department with general ledger maintenance, expense reporting, and financial reporting. The role is responsible for daily adherence to all AP and AR policies and GAAP compliance.

Established in 1970, Serving Seniors helps San Diego County’s low-income seniors overcome poverty through whole-person, wraparound support including meals, housing, health and social services, and enrichment activities. We work at numerous sites across the county and in the homes of hundreds of homebound seniors. Our flagship Gary & Mary West Senior Wellness Center in downtown San Diego is unlike any other senior center in the nation. Bringing together a range of supportive services under one roof, the Senior Wellness Center operates 365 days a year and offers two floors of integrated care, including health and social services, housing navigation, enrichment activities, lifelong learning, a Cyber Café and linkage to over 25 onsite direct service partners, including a senior dental center. Last fiscal year, we provided over 1.5 million meals and coordinated services to over 13,265 older adults.

Requirements
Job Duties & Responsibilities:
- Invoice Processing: Review, code, and match vendor invoices. Review for accuracy and proper approvals. Enter Sage Intacct software.
- Payment Execution: Schedule and execute disbursements via ACH, wire transfer, credit card or checks while tracking payment terms to avoid late fees.
- Account Reconciliation: Reconcile vendor statements, investigate discrepancies, and resolve outstanding balances.
- Month-End Close: Prepare AP accruals, prepaids, and general ledger journal entries during the close cycle.
- Vendor Management: Maintain vendor master files, track W-9/1099 data, and answer vendor inquiries.
- Audit Support: Gather records and documentation for internal and external audits.
- Process Daily deposits and incoming ACH payments. Prepare daily deposits, apply payments to Account receivable invoices.
- Use modern technology and systems to create efficiencies in the AP and AR process
- Other duties as assigned
Required Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- CPA or CPA candidate preferred
- Experience: 3 to 5 years of accounts payable or staff accountant experience.
- Software Skills: Proficiency in MS Excel (VLOOKUPs, pivot tables) and Sage Intacct accounting software
- Advanced understanding of accounting principles
- Soft Skills: High attention to detail, strong communication skills, and effective time management. Ability to work across teams and departments and explain accounting information.
- Non-Profit experience is preferred. Experience with grant accounting a plus
- Experience using Ramp business card program or similar.
- Experience using Budgeting Software, Vena or similar.

- Hybrid position – office provided onsite
- Position is regularly required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and move up to 20 pounds.
- Requires specific vision abilities to include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
- Experience using Vena or other budget planning software

Pay : 70k - 72k salary DOE
