As an International Tax Senior Professional, you will play a key role in supporting Hitachi Energy's global business operations by providing international tax advice across multiple jurisdictions. You will work closely with business stakeholders, project teams, and tax colleagues around the world to identify tax implications, mitigate tax risks, and support compliant business operations.
A significant part of the role involves preparing and coordinating tax advice for a wide range of cross-border business activities and transactions. You will also serve as a flexible resource for the global tax organization, providing support during peak workloads, urgent business needs, and periods of absence within the tax team to help ensure timely and consistent delivery of tax advisory services.
How you will make an impact
- Collaborate with business teams in different business units and jurisdictions to gather relevant information and understand business activities.
- Analyze tax legislation in various jurisdictions and assess its impact on business operations and transactions.
- Communicate with tax colleagues around the world to obtain local tax input and coordinate tax advice.
- Initiate and manage tax consultancy assignments with external advisors where appropriate.
- Prepare and review tax advice covering international tax, permanent establishment, withholding tax, VAT, and other tax matters.
- Identify tax risks and recommend practical mitigation measures.
- Provide clear and practical tax guidance and recommendations to business stakeholders.
- Support urgent business requests and provide back-up coverage during employee absences or periods of high workload.
- Assist in standardizing tax advisory processes and promoting consistent tax practices across the organization.
Your Background
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Tax, Law, Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related field.
- 4–6 years of experience in international taxation, either in industry, a consulting firm, or a tax authority.
- Understanding of international tax principles, tax treaties, and the OECD Model Convention.
- Understanding of permanent establishment concepts and related tax risks.
- Basic knowledge of VAT and transfer pricing.
- Ability to explain complex tax concepts in a practical and understandable manner.
