Cloud Engineer II

SUMMARY:

Reporting to the Manager of Cloud Engineering, the Cloud Engineer II is responsible for enterprise level design and expert level knowledge of Brown University Health’s complex Public and Private cloud infrastructures and components. The role focuses on engineering solutions that encompass performance, security, scalability, best practice, automation, and orchestration. The Engineer II is responsible for performance and maintenance on all cloud related infrastructure within Brown University Health. The role also provides support for platform specific Infrastructure projects as assigned.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Engineer II would be responsible for leading the design, implementation, and maintenance of cloud infrastructure and services to ensure high availability, reliability, and scalability.  Develop and enforce cloud security policies and procedures to protect data and applications from unauthorized access and potential security threats.  Optimize cloud performance and cost-efficiency through continuous monitoring and improvement. Create and manage automation scripts for efficient deployment, management, and scaling of cloud resources. Work closely with development, operations, and security teams to integrate cloud solutions that meet business objectives. Design and implement disaster recovery and backup strategies for cloud-based systems.  Maintain comprehensive documentation of cloud infrastructure, configurations, and processes.

Cloud Architecture: Design and architect scalable, secure, and reliable cloud solutions.

Optimization: Optimize cloud infrastructure for performance, cost-efficiency, and security.

Troubleshooting: Resolve complex issues related to cloud infrastructure and applications.

Project Leadership: Lead cloud projects from conception to completion, ensuring timely delivery and adherence to best practices.

Mentorship: Mentor and guide junior cloud engineers, fostering a collaborative and innovative team environment

Documentation: Create and maintain comprehensive documentation of cloud systems and processes.

Security: Implement and manage advanced security measures to protect cloud environments.

Performs other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION:

High School Diploma Required. A degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field is strongly preferred.

Relevant certification in one of the major Cloud platforms is required. Certification must be obtained within the first year of employment.

EXPERIENCE:

7+ years of industry experience required, with a preference toward large enterprise environments. Proven experience as a Cloud Engineer, with a focus on senior-level responsibilities. Expertise in cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.

Technical Skills: Strong knowledge of cloud architecture, automation tools, and security best practices.

Soft Skills: Excellent leadership, problem-solving, and communication skills.

Pay Range:

$95,264.00-$157,206.40
