Role Description

As a Senior Town Planner, you will be contributing to the success of the town planning team in Arcadis, directly supporting the wider team to win and deliver great work for our clients, to grow our capability and reputation in the industry and to build positive relationships within Arcadis and beyond. You will be an important part of an integrated planning and environmental team, delivering projects for a range of clients with opportunities to work across multiple sectors.

Role Accountabilities

  • Deliver high-quality technical work either independently or as part of a team, ensuring relevant professional guidance, policy and practice is adhered to.
  • Manage your time effectively to ensure timely delivery and effective utilisation.
  • Work collaboratively with other sectors/disciplines to ensure the integrity of the overall solution.
  • Develop effective working relationships with project leads and with the client and ensure effective communication of progress and changes and the resolution of issues.
  • Coach, guide and provide technical advice to junior team members, to support them in their delivery on the project and in their professional development.
  • Develop and maintain a good understanding of the services delivered by Arcadis, of the client’s business and the industry sector to facilitate personal networking and to consolidate personal and company credibility in the industry.
  • Proactively understand and engage with relevant Arcadis policies, procedures and processes and carry out the accountability of the role in accordance with Arcadis General Business Principles.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in a relevant discipline, preferably accredited by the Royal Town Planning Institute (RTPI) or equivalent.
  • Competent in town planning skills relevant to area of work (e.g. development planning, planning policy, infrastructure planning) and basic knowledge of related disciplines.
  • Substantial progress made toward achieving Chartered status or equivalent professional accreditation.
  • Relevant experience in town planning or directly relevant profession, with substantial experience applying key principles in practice.
  • Advanced proficiency with relevant desktop applications.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Excellent time management skills.
  • Effective technical, project management, client relationship management and commercial skills.
  • Good understanding of Environmental, Safety and Risk Management.
