The Opportunity:
In this role, you will report to the Territory Area Manager and will work closely with the Avantor’s Advanced Laboratory Services professionals to serve our customers by performing customized, mission-based lab work and research protocols that help return time back to science.
Location: Remote, USA (candidates located near the New Jersey area are preferred). Periodic onsite visits may be required to become familiar with the facility, site layout, and operational processes.
Shift: Monday through Friday, 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM. Overtime may be required based on business needs.
Pay rate: $25.00/hr.

What we’re looking for
Education:
High school diploma or GED required
Experience:
Two (2) or more years of experience in purchasing, procurement, inventory management, material handling, supply chain, or related operational functions.
Demonstrated experience processing purchase orders, managing vendor relationships, tracking deliveries, resolving order issues, and supporting customer requests.
Required experience with SAP, Ariba, and eMarketplace purchasing platforms.
Proven ability to manage procurement activities, vendor communications, order fulfillment, and inventory-related processes in a fast-paced environment.
Experience supporting cross-functional teams and customer-facing operations with strong communication and customer service skills.
Experience working in laboratory, pharmaceutical, biopharmaceutical, manufacturing, or other regulated environments is preferred.
Knowledge of scientific products, laboratory operations, or related services is a plus.
Technical Skills:
Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Teams, and SharePoint.
Ability to successfully comply with customer and company requirements related to safety & regulatory compliance.
Strong understanding of procurement, inventory control, purchasing, and supply chain processes.
Excellent customer service, communication, and relationship-building skills.
Ability to manage multiple priorities independently in a fast-paced environment.
Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
Demonstrated commitment to safety, quality, accuracy, and continuous improvement.
This position requires a proactive, service-oriented professional who can effectively balance procurement activities, customer support, inventory responsibilities, and operational reporting.

Avantor’s Advanced Laboratory Services team is a crucial part of the Avantor Services group serving over 500 customers in biopharma, pharmaceutical, educational, industrial, and high-tech industries with customizable, flexible solutions and end-to-end laboratory operations support. In this role you will:
Responsible for inventory management activities: consumables, chemicals, samples, and other customer-owned inventory. Maintains accurate inventory records, processes inventory transactions, supports inventory movement on and off-site, and fulfills customer reporting requirements.
Provides daily customer service support related to inventory management, procurement activities, and ad hoc customer requests.
Performs purchasing and procurement-related functions: backorder management, order expediting, direct factory shipments, third-party supplier support, quote management, document control, records maintenance, and resolution of invoice or pricing discrepancies.
Responsible for customer service functions: order entry, report generation, metric tracking, cost savings documentation, and monitoring orders from placement through completion. Ensures order timelines are met and proactively communicates potential delays or issues to stakeholders.
Interfaces directly with customer contacts, purchasing teams, facility management, site leadership, vendors, and internal support teams to ensure business needs are met.
Manages consigned, non-consigned, customer-owned, and third-party inventory programs in accordance with established procedures and customer requirements.
Utilizes Avantor and customer systems: SAP, Ariba, Avantor Inventory Management Systems, ChemSW, intranet resources, and other customer-specific platforms to fulfill job responsibilities.
Collaborates with internal sales, sourcing, procurement, and operational support teams to resolve customer issues, support inventory needs, and identify service improvement opportunities.
Meets established goals and objectives related to safety, quality, service, productivity, and performance metrics.
Supports and documents change management activities as required.
Develops, updates, and maintains Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), work instructions, reports, and operational metrics.
Oversees customer purchase orders (POs), ensuring accurate processing, timely fulfillment, and effective coordination across customer and supplier platforms.
Coordinates with vendors through meetings, phone calls, email correspondence, and ongoing communication to address order status, timelines, product availability, and customer requirements.
Identifies and escalates service, inventory, procurement, or supply chain issues that may impact customer operations.
Performs other duties as assigned.

Pay Transparency:
The expected pre-tax pay for this position is
$45,000.00 - $72,450.00Actual pay may differ depending on relevant factors such as prior experience and geographic location.
