Northrop Grumman’s Space Systems Sector is seeking a Space Vehicle Systems Engineer – Level 3 to join our team in Redondo Beach, CA.

This position is contingent upon the candidate obtaining final clearances and program access(es) within a reasonable period of time as determined by the company. Continued employment thereafter will be subject to maintenance at the level of clearance and program access required for the position in the future.

The selected candidate will be responsible for supporting Space Vehicle Systems Integration activities by developing and maturing space vehicle to Payload, Bus, & Launch Vehicle dispenser interface requirements in coordination with internal and external stakeholders, supporting Space Vehicle Design Integration, and supporting mission integration activities with Specialty Engineering (Fault Management, EMI/EMC, Contamination Control, Reliability, Safety, etc.), AI&T, & PL for the successful integration and launch of the space vehicles.

Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

-Developing and coordinating integrated analysis plans and budgets in support of environmental specifications, coupled load cycles, and integrated power and thermal analyses

-Development and maintenance of Master Equipment Lists (MEL) and Power Equipment Lists (PEL)

-Developing the mission interface control document(s) with the launch service provider(s), customer(s), and internal stakeholder(s)

-Developing and managing interface requirements document(s) to interface control document(s), block diagrams, and traceability matrices

-Supporting verification of the mission interface control document(s)

-Additionally, the Space Vehicle Systems Engineer will develop and manage metrics; report on mission interface control document(s), requirements maturity, and verification burndown; and prepare inputs for milestone reviews (SRR, PDR, CDR, etc.).

Basic Qualifications for Space Vehicle Systems Engineer – Level 3:

-Bachelor's degree in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) discipline with 5+ years of engineering experience OR

-Master's degree in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) discipline with 3+ years of engineering experience OR

-PhD in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) discipline with 1+ year(s) of engineering experience

-Candidate must have active SCI access at time of application and prior to start date OR

-Candidate must have an active U.S. Government Top Secret security clearance (or equivalent) at time of application and prior to start date as well as the ability to obtain and maintain active SCI access within a reasonable period of time as determined by the company. Continued employment thereafter will be subject to the candidate’s maintenance of the level of clearance and program access required for the position in the future.

Preferred Qualifications for Space Vehicle Systems Engineer – Level 3:

-Ability to work in a collaborative team environment

-Mechanical/Electrical/Thermal Hardware Design Background

-Familiarity with Computer Aided Design Software (CATIA V5)

-Strong communication and time management skills

-Detail-oriented and strong organizational skills

-Knowledge of Systems Engineering processes

-Ability to proficiently use tools such as: MS Project, Power Point, Excel, Jira, DOORS

-Active U.S. Government Top Secret security clearance (or equivalent) clearance along with active SCI access at time of application and prior to start date

Primary Level Salary Range: $114,000.00 - $171,000.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
