Job Description:

POSITION SUMMARY

The On-Call Fundraising & Community Partnerships Coordinator supports the Centre of Hope's communications, fundraising, and community engagement initiatives on an as-needed basis. The primary focus of this position is creating engaging social media content, maintaining the Centre of Hope website, and promoting programs, events, and fundraising campaigns.

The Coordinator also provides support for fundraising activities, donor stewardship, volunteer engagement, and community partnerships as required, helping increase awareness and support for The Salvation Army Centre of Hope.

Key Responsibilities:

Marketing & Communications (Primary Focus)

  • Create, schedule, and manage engaging content for social media platforms using Canva, AI tools, photography, and other digital resources.
  • Maintain and update the Centre of Hope website with current news, events, and program information.
  • Develop newsletters, fundraising appeals, brochures, posters, and other promotional materials.
  • Promote Centre programs, fundraising campaigns, volunteer opportunities, and community events.

Fundraising & Community Engagement

  • Support fundraising campaigns, donor stewardship, sponsorships, and community partnerships.
  • Assist with donor recognition, thank-you correspondence, and maintaining donor records.
  • Help identify fundraising and partnership opportunities.

Events & Volunteer Support

  • Assist with fundraising events, community outreach activities, and volunteer recruitment.
  • Represent the Centre of Hope at community events and presentations as required.
  • Provide communications and promotional support for the annual Christmas Kettle Campaign.

General Responsibilities

  • Recommend new communication and fundraising opportunities to increase community awareness.
  • Support the mission and values of The Salvation Army.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education

  • Post-secondary education in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, Business Administration, Fundraising, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Experience

  • Two (2) years of experience in communications, marketing, fundraising, community engagement, event coordination, or a related field.

Knowledge & Skills

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Canva, AI tools, website content management systems, and social media platforms.
  • Strong writing, communication, organizational, and time-management skills.
  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and build positive relationships with donors, volunteers, and community partners.
  • Creative, adaptable, and committed to excellent customer service.
  • Ability and willingness to undergo applicable screening and background checks successfully that are satisfactory to The Salvation Army, in its sole discretion (i.e., The Salvation Army Abuse Registry) and provide an original copy of a Background Check screening.

Hours of Work

  • On-call, as required.
  • Hours will vary based on communications needs, fundraising activities, and special events.
  • Evening and weekend availability may be required, particularly during the annual Christmas Kettle Campaign.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with donor databases, email marketing platforms (e.g., Constant Contact), graphic design, photography, or videography.
  • Grant writing or corporate sponsorship experience is an asset.
  • A commitment to the mission and values of The Salvation Army.

Compensation:

The target hiring range for this position is $24.47 to $30.59 with a maximum of $36.71.

Placement in the salary range will be based on factors such as market conditions, internal equity, and candidate experience, skills, and qualifications relevant to the role.
