Supervisor, Therapy

Responsibilities

The Therapy Supervisor provides center-based leadership and operational oversight of the therapy department, supporting the Regional Director of Therapy in daily operations. This role is responsible for the direct supervision, training, and performance management of assigned therapy staff, ensuring delivery of high-quality, compliant services.  The Therapy Supervisor applies clinical expertise across physical, occupational, and speech therapy disciplines to guide team performance, support program goals, and promote best practices. This position collaborates closely with interdisciplinary team (IDT) members, center leadership, support staff, participants, and caregivers to ensure coordinated, participant-centered care.  In addition to supervisory responsibilities, the Therapy Supervisor provides direct therapy services, including evaluation and treatment, within the scope of licensure and in accordance with InnovAge policies, PACE program requirements, and applicable state regulations.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND WORK RESPONSIBILITIES

 

Participant Care Responsibilities

• Maintain a caseload based on participant need and leadership guidance.
• Perform evaluations and provide skilled therapy services; develop, implement, and adjust treatment plans in collaboration with participants, caregivers, and the IDT.
• Participate in Plan of Care development and coordinate services across the care continuum, including communication with providers and care team members regarding progress and changes.
• Complete timely, accurate documentation of all services, including progress updates and discharge summaries, in the medical record.
• Support DME management and educate participants, caregivers, and staff on equipment use, safety, ADLs, and therapeutic programs.
• Report incidents, variances, and complaints in accordance with policy.
• Comply with all organizational, regulatory, and professional standards.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Administrative / Supervision Responsibilities

• Participate in leadership, quality, and utilization review activities; communicate key updates to staff.
• Supervise staff including hiring, onboarding, performance management, and corrective actions in collaboration with Human Resources and Regional Director of Therapy; ensure timely evaluations.
• Hold rehab team accountable for achievement of defined therapy metrics through ongoing monitoring, performance feedback, and corrective action as needed.
• Manage daily therapy scheduling and ensure adequate staffing coverage for both planned and unplanned absences.
• Review and approve payroll including staff PTO requests and timecard corrections, ensuring accuracy and compliance with organizational policies.
• Provide regulatory-compliant guidance, promote staff development, and support continuous improvement.
• Oversee DME operations, including purchasing/order approval, inventory, maintenance, and required documentation.
• Manage departmental resources and purchases within budget; support quality, safety, and infection control initiatives.
• Provide orientation and education to contract providers and staff, including non-therapy personnel, as needed.
• Support development of department policies, procedures, and programs.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS

 

Travel

• Travel between local InnovAge work sites as assigned
• Travel to client and potential client homes and/or other off-site locations including but not limited to ALF/SNF/other residential care settings.
• Overnight travel in and/or out of state as needed

QUALIFICATIONS

REQUIRED

 

One of the following educational requirements must be met

• Graduation from a Physical Therapy program accredited by the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA) required.
• Graduate of an Occupational Therapy curriculum accredited jointly by the Committee on Allied Health Education and Accreditation of the American Medical Association and the American Occupational Therapy Association (AOTA)
• Master’s degree in Speech and Language Pathology

One of the following licensure requirements must be met if applicable with education

• Current State of issued Physical Therapist license that allows physical therapy practice.
• Current certification from National Board for Certification of Occupational Therapy (NBCOT) for Occupational Therapy and current state issued Occupational Therapy license that allows occupational therapy practice.
• Clinical Certification of Competency in Speech Pathology (CCC)

• Valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, good driving record and required auto insurance.

PREFERRED

• Two years’ therapy experience in geriatrics
• One year of therapy leadership experience 
• Bilingual
