Job Summary
The PDM/PLM Administrator is responsible for the administration, architecture, installation, deployment, support, and governance of the enterprise product data and product lifecycle management environment(PDM/PLM) , as well as the technical leadership of mechanical automation development teams. This role establishes and controls standardized enterprise environments, including applications, integrations, CAD/PDM libraries, templates, configurations, and version baselines; designs scalable solutions for multiple sites and remote users; governs deployments and scheduled updates; enables connected workflows from upstream sales, quoting, and product configuration through engineering and into downstream production and quality processes; and ensures engineering data, workflows, and automation products remain controlled, accessible, compatible, maintainable, and aligned with business processes across the enterprise.
This role will be onsite in Athens, GA or Dyersburg, TN. Relocation Assistance is available.
Responsibilities
- Own the administration and technical architecture of the PDM/PLM platform, including users, roles, permissions, lifecycle states, workflows, categories, numbering schemes, configuration standards, and environment strategy.
- Maintain the controlled repository for CAD models, drawings, specifications, engineering documents, and related metadata.
- Configure and support check-in/check-out, revision, release, approval, change, and document-control.
- Define and maintain the enterprise PDM/PLM solution architecture, including application, database, storage, network, identity, security, integration, and client-access components in partnership with IT and cybersecurity teams.
- Define and govern enterprise engineering data standards, including naming conventions, file and item numbering, property names and descriptions, metadata definitions, parameters, units of measure, material libraries, classifications, and required-field rules to support consistent use across systems.
- Establish governance for creating, reviewing, approving, versioning, and retiring properties, parameters, materials, templates, and naming standards, including validation rules, duplicate prevention, change impact assessment, and synchronization across enterprise locations and integrated systems.
- Plan and execute data migration, cleanup, validation, classification, and controlled onboarding of legacy content.
- Monitor and optimize system health, job processing, permissions, performance, capacity, replication, network-dependent services, integrations, and remote-user experience across enterprise locations.
- Own enterprise installation and environment setup for PDM/PLM and supported CAD applications across multiple sites and remote users.
- Establish and manage enterprise deployment governance, including training, release calendars, version compatibility assessments, pilot testing, change windows, site rollout sequencing, user communications, validation, rollback plans, and post-deployment support for patches, upgrades, and major version updates.
- Lead, mentor, and coordinate a team of mechanical automation developers responsible for CAD automation, engineering configurators, design utilities, custom integrations, and related digital engineering solutions.
- Measure adoption, data quality, workflow compliance, and support trends and recommend continuous improvements.
Software / Engineering Tools:
- Autodesk Vault, Fusion Manage, Inventor, AutoCAD, and associated Autodesk administration utilities as applicable.
- Microsoft Windows Server, SQL Server, database and query tools, virtualization or cloud infrastructure, storage, networking, certificates, backup and recovery, monitoring, migration, validation, scripting, and system-administration tools.
- Workflow, issue-tracking, testing, documentation, and release-management tools.
- Microsoft Office and reporting tools used to support governance, training, and operational metrics.
Qualifications
- Bachelor degree in Information Systems, Engineering Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience.
- Working knowledge of PDM/PLM solution architecture, environment design, revision control, lifecycle management, permissions, workflows, metadata, engineering change processes, system security, backup and recovery, and integration principles.
- Hands-on experience installing and configuring enterprise CAD/PDM/PLM environments and controlling libraries, templates, shared standards, client configurations, deployment packages, version compatibility, and scheduled software updates across distributed user populations.
- Experience supporting users, troubleshooting system issues, documenting procedures, and coordinating technical changes.
- Demonstrated experience leading, mentoring, and developing mechanical automation developers or comparable engineering software teams, including work planning, technical direction, resource coordination, performance coaching, and delivery accountability.
- Strong attention to detail, customer-service orientation, and cross-functional communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Administration experience with Autodesk Vault and/or Fusion Manage.
- Experience integrating PDM/PLM with upstream sales, CRM, quoting, and CPQ workflows and downstream ERP, manufacturing, production, document-control, inspection, nonconformance, and quality-management systems.
- Experience migrating engineering documents and CAD data from shared drives, SharePoint, or legacy repositories.
- Knowledge of manufacturing engineering, bills of material, product structures, configuration, and change-control processes.
- Experience overseeing the development of CAD automation, rules-based design, engineering configurators, APIs, scripts, plug-ins, or custom applications, with knowledge of software architecture, source control, code review, testing, release management, and agile or iterative delivery practices.
- Knowledge of mechanical simulation methods and workflows, including finite element analysis, structural, thermal, or motion simulation, and experience connecting simulation inputs, models, results, and approvals with CAD and PDM/PLM processes, is a plus.
- Demonstrated experience designing or implementing multi-site and remote-access PDM/PLM architectures, including distributed deployment models, network and latency considerations, replication or synchronization, high availability, disaster recovery, security, capacity planning, and system lifecycle management.
