Maintenance and Custodial Technician

Full-Time | Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM | $22–$28/hour

Mechanically inclined? Enjoy working independently? Take pride in keeping equipment operating at its best?

Put your hands-on skills to work at Electronic Systems, Inc. (ESI)!

At ESI, you'll play an important role in keeping our manufacturing equipment clean, maintained, reliable, and ready for production. If you enjoy working with your hands, solving problems, staying busy, and preventing problems before they happen, we'd love to meet you.

Keep ESI Running.

ABOUT ESI

At Electronic Systems, Inc., we build lasting partnerships with our customers by delivering products Done Right, On Time, backed by Legendary Service.

For more than 46 years, ESI has provided electronic contract manufacturing services to customers in the industrial, medical, energy, agriculture, biotech, and commercial markets across the globe.

Behind every quality product is equipment that is properly maintained and ready to perform. This position plays an important role in making that happen.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

As a Maintenance & Preventative Maintenance Technician, you'll help keep ESI's manufacturing facility and production equipment operating safely, efficiently, and reliably.

Working independently in our climate-controlled manufacturing facility, you'll perform preventative maintenance, equipment cleaning, inspections, and general facility support. Your attention to detail and proactive approach will help prevent equipment downtime and keep production moving.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Performing preventative maintenance on production equipment and related accessories.
  • Maintaining SMT equipment, conveyors, reflow ovens, wave solder equipment, ventilation systems, tooling, and production computers.
  • Cleaning production equipment, including vacuuming loose electronic components and debris.
  • Assisting with feeder repairs, calibrations, and equipment setup.
  • Maintaining ultrasonic cleaning systems and batch wash equipment.
  • Replacing filters, cleaning tanks, and maintaining equipment support systems.
  • Inspecting equipment and identifying potential issues before they affect production.
  • Maintaining preventative maintenance records, tracking, and documentation.
  • Operating floor maintenance equipment to maintain a clean and safe manufacturing environment.
  • Working with Production and Engineering to support equipment readiness and minimize downtime.
  • Performing other production support duties as assigned.

WHAT YOU'LL BRING

We're looking for someone who enjoys hands-on work, notices the details others overlook, and takes pride in doing a job right.

You don't need to know every piece of equipment when you start. We value mechanical aptitude, a willingness to learn, and the ability to take ownership of your work.

Required qualifications and characteristics:

  • Mechanical aptitude and a desire to learn manufacturing equipment.
  • Strong attention to detail and pride in producing quality work.
  • Ability to work independently and remain self-motivated.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Reliable attendance and dependability.
  • Positive attitude and willingness to continuously learn.
  • Ability to read, understand, and follow established procedures and safety standards.
  • Experience in hands-on technical work, such as manufacturing equipment maintenance, automotive repair, agriculture, mechanical repair, industrial cleaning, machine operation, or similar fields.

PHYSICAL & WORK ENVIRONMENT

This position involves:

  • Lifting and carrying up to 45 pounds.
  • Frequent bending, kneeling, reaching, and walking.
  • Repetitive hand and arm movements.
  • Working around active manufacturing equipment.
  • Working in a climate-controlled manufacturing facility.
  • Wearing required personal protective equipment (PPE) in accordance with ESI Safety Policy and OSHA requirements.

WHY ESI?

Your work makes a difference every day.

When production equipment is properly maintained and ready to run, our associates can build quality products, our customers receive their orders on time, and our business continues to grow.

At ESI, we value people who take ownership, look for ways to improve, and care about doing excellent work.

You'll have opportunities to:

  • Learn new manufacturing equipment and technologies.
  • Develop valuable mechanical and technical skills.
  • Work alongside experienced Production and Engineering teams.
  • Build a long-term career in a growing manufacturing environment.

PAY & BENEFITS

Pay: $22–$28 per hour, based on experience.

Full-time employees are eligible for the following benefits:

  • Paid Time Off (PTO).
  • Paid holidays.
  • Three Sanford Health medical plan options.
  • Delta Dental of South Dakota.
  • VSP Vision.
  • Long-Term Disability.
  • Voluntary Short-Term Disability.
  • AFLAC supplemental insurance plans.
  • 401(k) with company match.
  • Company-paid Life & AD&D Insurance.

ITAR ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENT

This position requires access to information and materials subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). Applicants must be able to provide documentation demonstrating U.S. person status as defined by ITAR to be eligible for employment. Employment is contingent upon verification of this eligibility.
