Why join Rolls-Royce?
At Rolls-Royce we are proud to be a business that has truly helped to shape the modern world and are committed to always being a force for progress; powering, protecting and connecting people everywhere.
By joining Rolls-Royce, you'll have the opportunity to work on world-class solutions, supported by a culture that believes individuality is our greatest strength, and all perspectives, experiences and backgrounds help us innovate and enable our high-performance culture.
Position Summary
Negotiation Excellence exists to help Aerospace Procurement achieve better negotiation outcomes – by preparing better, thinking differently and making smarter use of the knowledge, data, technology and expertise available across Rolls-Royce.
As Procurement Development Leader – Negotiation Excellence, you will help transform the way we approach negotiation across Aerospace.
You will combine an understanding of how Rolls-Royce works with curiosity, fresh thinking, personal drive and a genuine desire to make things better – for the business and for your colleagues undertaking the negotiations.
Success will come from bringing people together, challenging established ways of working and turning good ideas into practical improvements that people want to use.
What you will be doing
- Transform how we negotiate – challenge established ways of working and develop practical improvements that help teams frame, prepare and execute negotiations with clear objectives, a strong understanding of value and effective strategic and commercial levers.
- Turn data and technology into advantage – combine and analyse data to develop hypotheses, identify financial opportunities and provide clear, actionable digital insights that support better, faster decisions.
- Understand and connect the business – build a strong understanding of programmes, operations, procurement and supporting functions, joining up priorities, projects, risks and commercial opportunities across Aerospace and the wider Rolls-Royce organisation.
- Champion tools and processes – become an expert in the tools and processes that support negotiation and cost initiatives, champion their consistent adoption, streamline how they are used and drive continuous improvement, so teams realise their full value.
- Lead through influence – build trust across functions and seniority levels, communicate a compelling vision and bring together stakeholders with different priorities to deliver solutions that work for the wider business.
- Stay close to the work and keep learning – understand the reality of Category Teams’ pressures, learn from the wider organisation and external negotiation landscape, and use that insight to shape future improvements.
Position qualifications
- Educated to degree level in a numerate or business discipline, or with equivalent experience in procurement, commercial or supply chain, with an understanding of value, cost drivers and business decision-making.
- Experience of being involved in negotiations, including supporting preparation, participating in discussions and working with stakeholders across functions and seniority levels.
- Experience of using data, digital technology, tools and processes to generate actionable insight, support better decisions and translate ideas into practical improvements that teams adopt and sustain.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, with the confidence to learn and use relevant enterprise, procurement and digital tools.
- Experience of influencing and implementing change across functions, gaining stakeholder commitment and progressing practical solutions without relying on direct authority.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, and the ability to communicate with all parts of the business including internal and external stakeholders
- Membership of a relevant professional body or institute would be desirable.
