Our vision is to transform how the world uses information to enrich life for all.

Micron Technology is a world leader in innovating memory and storage solutions that accelerate the transformation of information into intelligence, inspiring the world to learn, communicate and advance faster than ever.

As a Global Front End (FE) Central Planning Engineer, you will develop manufacturing and capacity-planning strategies that support technology scaling, capital efficiency, and high-volume manufacturing. The role combines semiconductor expertise, quantitative modeling, scenario analysis, and cross-functional leadership to help drive technology, equipment, capacity, and capital decisions across Micron's FE network. You will partner closely with Technology Development (TD), Manufacturing, Engineering, and Planning teams to translate complex business and technical challenges into actionable plans and measurable results.

Key Responsibilities

Modeling & Analysis

  • Develop and improve planning models that quantify equipment, capacity, space, and capital requirements.
  • Create decision frameworks that connect technology needs, cost, risk, and manufacturing readiness.
  • Conduct scenario analysis to evaluate manufacturing strategies, technology roadmaps, and long-term capacity plans.
  • Identify trends, risks, opportunities, and trade-offs that impact business and manufacturing performance.

Multi-Functional Leadership

  • Partner with Technology Innovation and Manufacturing teams to optimize technology, process, and equipment roadmaps.
  • Coordinate project execution across Engineering, Procurement, Manufacturing, and Planning organizations.
  • Align collaborators on requirements, ownership, timelines, and deliverables.
  • Evaluate trade-offs involving capital investment, capacity, manufacturing readiness, and technology performance.
  • Escalate risks and provide solution options when alignment cannot be reached.

Communication & Continuous Improvement

  • Present analytical findings and recommendations to leadership and stakeholders.
  • Develop scalable data analysis, automated processes, and decision-support tools.
  • Leverage AI, programming languages like Python, SQL, and R, alongside Excel and VBA to improve planning efficiency and decision quality.
  • Build reusable AI-assisted workflows while ensuring responsible AI usage and data security.
  • Grow into a domain expert and technical program leader within assigned planning areas.

Potential Focus Areas

  • Technology transitions and new-node manufacturing introductions.
  • Strategies for planning machinery and operational volume.
  • Fab space utilization and utility-efficiency improvements.
  • Capital investment and wafer cost evaluation.
  • Tool utilization, reuse, conversion, and throughput optimization.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in Engineering, Science, Operations Research, Applied Mathematics, or another field involving quantitative analysis.
  • 2+ years of experience in semiconductor manufacturing, process engineering, equipment engineering, technology development, or managing production resources.
  • Experience building quantitative models and data analyses using Excel, Python, SQL, or similar tools.
  • Experience contributing to multi-functional projects from planning through execution.
  • Strong analytical, communication, stakeholder-management, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently, learn new technical concepts quickly, and adapt to shifting priorities.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree or equivalent experience in a quantitative field such as Engineering, Science, or a closely related area.
  • Knowledge of semiconductor production scheduling, front-end manufacturing operations, and technology roadmaps.
  • Experience with: Technology transfer from development to high-volume manufacturing. Equipment and capacity modeling. Fab space and utility planning. Capital expenditure (CapEx) and cost-per-wafer analysis.
  • Demonstrated success leading multi-functional projects without direct authority over collaborators.
  • Experience presenting recommendations and arguments to senior leadership.
  • Advanced proficiency with Python, SQL, R, AI-enabled analytics, automation, and reporting tools.
