Description
At SOMIC, procurement is more than purchasing. You'll play a critical role in ensuring materials arrive on time, suppliers stay aligned, and highly engineered packaging systems continue supporting some of the world's most recognized consumer brands. Working closely with teams across the U.S. and Germany, you'll help keep our operations and customers moving forward.
We're looking for an experienced Procurement Specialist who is organized, collaborative, and takes pride in delivering exceptional service to both suppliers and internal stakeholders. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys building relationships, managing details, and serving as a trusted partner across the organization. You'll support procurement activities for highly engineered automated packaging systems, spare parts, and customer support operations, helping ensure the right materials are available when and where they're needed.
If you're known for being dependable, proactive, and easy to work with, we'd love to meet you.
What You'll Be Doing
As a Procurement Specialist, you'll help ensure the right materials, components, and services are available to support our customers and operations.
You'll:
- Manage purchase orders and supplier communications
- Monitor deliveries and proactively resolve shortages or delays
- Partner with suppliers to improve performance and responsiveness
- Serve as the primary US procurement point of contact to SOMIC headquarters in Germany, partnering directly with global supply chain and procurement leaders to coordinate purchasing activities, material requirements, supplier communications, and operational priorities.
- Support inventory planning and material availability
- Work with ERP/MRP systems to manage purchasing activities
- Coordinate with internal stakeholders across operations, engineering, warehouse, and service teams
- Conduct supplier evaluations, sourcing initiatives, and continuous improvement efforts.
- Help improve purchasing, inventory, and supply chain processes through data-driven problem solving.
- Support KPI tracking, reporting, and procurement performance analysis
This role offers a blend of procurement execution, supplier management, inventory support, and international collaboration, making it ideal for someone looking to broaden their supply chain experience and grow within a global organization.
