Lecturer (Banking & Finance) – School of Business Management

[What the role is]

Join the School of Business Management as a Lecturer in Banking & Finance, bringing your industry expertise and experience to shape curriculum, teaching practice and learner development. You will take a leading role in strengthening applied, industry-relevant learning, driving curriculum and assessment enhancements, and ensure our programmes remain responsive to emerging developments and evolving skills needs in the financial sector. Beyond teaching and mentoring learners, you will provide professional guidance to junior lecturers, build strategic relationships with industry and educational partners, and lead or contribute to broader School and Polytechnic initiatives.

[What you will be working on]

• Lead the development and enhancement of curriculum, learning resources, assessment strategies, and teaching and learning practices to enhance learner engagement and teaching effectiveness across full-time and part-time programmes.
• Deliver and facilitate engaging, industry-relevant learning, incorporating appropriate pedagogies, technologies and applied learning experiences.
• Mentor and support learners in their holistic development, including academic, personal and career development, pastoral care, and supervision of projects and competitions.
• Provide professional guidance and mentorship to junior lecturers and contribute to the development of teaching capabilities within the team.
• Initiate and contribute to industry engagement and collaborative projects that strengthen the relevance and currency of the curriculum.
• Build and maintain networks with industry and educational partners to stay abreast of emerging developments and evolving skills needs.
• Lead or contribute to School and Polytechnic initiatives, including student development, outreach, industry engagement and other institutional activities.
• Participate in overseas learning opportunities, including accompanying learners on study trips and immersion programmes, and support collaborations with industry or educational institutions.
• Perform other academic and administrative duties.

• Demonstrated ability to facilitate learning and develop practical competencies in learners.
• A genuine passion for supporting learners in their growth and helping each learner realise their potential.
• Relevant qualification in Banking and/or Finance.
• Demonstrated depth and breadth of industry experience, including experience leading projects, teams or significant areas of work.
• At least 12 years of relevant experience in two or more of the following areas:
  • AI and Data Analytics in Finance
  • Digital Banking and FinTech
  • Blockchain and Decentralised Finance
  • Fund Management and Administration
  • Consumer and/or Corporate Banking
  • Sustainable Finance
  • Risk and Compliance Management
• Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and manage diverse stakeholders, collaborate effectively with others, manage deadlines and handle multiple priorities.
• Proficient in managing administrative tasks with meticulous attention to detail and accuracy.
• Comfortable with digital technologies, proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, and able to quickly learn and apply relevant digital tools as required.
