Description
Who We Are
NGO-ISAC is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that strengthens the security of U.S.-based nonprofits. Many civil society organizations run on limited security resources, and the people defending them often work alone. We bring nonprofits together in a community where they share information, learn from each other, and stay ahead of emerging threats. Together we help secure civil society against the threats that try to disrupt its essential work.
Who You Are
NGO-ISAC is hiring a leader to run the growth, retention, and long-term health of a mission-driven membership program. This person owns membership strategy end to end. They define member value, run acquisition and retention, find new segments, and build a three-to-five-year roadmap for sustainable growth. They also help grow corporate sponsorship.
This is a single role posted at two levels. Whether you join as Director or Senior Director, and your salary, depends on your experience.
This role is fully remote within the United States. We prefer candidates on the East Coast for time-zone overlap and the occasional in-person event.
What You'll Do
- Own the membership strategy, including a clear value proposition for current and prospective members
- Run membership growth through targeted drives and outreach campaigns
- Design retention strategies that improve satisfaction, engagement, and renewal
- Build a three-to-five-year roadmap for growth and sustainability
- Find and assess new markets and member segments beyond the traditional base
- Turn member feedback into recommendations for programs and services
- Build member relationships and resolve concerns responsively
- Supervise and develop the membership team, delegating work and tracking follow-through
- Set objective measures for acquisition, retention, engagement, and program effectiveness
- Get the most from the association management system for reporting and trend analysis
- Grow corporate sponsorship by identifying, cultivating, and securing sponsors
What You Bring
Required:
- 7 or more years in membership organizations, including 3 to 5 years developing corporate sponsorships (10 or more, with prior leadership of a membership function, for Senior Director).
- 3 or more years supervising staff (for Senior Director, experience managing a team or managers).
- A track record building membership strategy that balances acquisition with long-term retention.
- Experience running membership drives and scalable retention programs.
- Skill turning organizational goals into a multi-year roadmap and reaching new segments.
- Fluency with association management systems for trend analysis and reporting.
What We Offer
We want our people well and steady while they do work that matters, so the benefits are built to back that up.
You get medical, dental, and vision insurance, with FSA options to stretch what you spend on care. Paid time off is unlimited, and we want you to use it. We contribute to a 403(b) for your retirement and fund professional development so you can keep building the skills and credentials your work depends on. Because we are a 501(c)(3), your time here counts as qualifying employment toward Public Service Loan Forgiveness, which can clear federal student debt for people who spend their careers in mission work. Wellness benefits round it out.
The work/life balance line is not decoration. This is a place where you can do serious work and still have a life.
Compensation: $90k - $115k.
