Job Description Summary
Micron is hiring a Data Center Infrastructure Manager! You will lead the design, deployment, operation, and lifecycle management of physical IT infrastructure supporting Micron's data centers, MDFs, IDFs, network rooms, and critical technology environments and responsible for ensuring the availability, scalability, reliability, and efficiency of data center facilities infrastructure, including structured cabling systems, rack and cabinet deployments, power distribution, cooling systems, space management, and physical connectivity.
In this role, we will partner closely with Facilities, Construction, Network Engineering, IT Compute and Storage, Manufacturing IT, Security, Architecture, and external vendors to support new site construction, fab expansions, technology refreshes, and ongoing operational requirements! We will establish and maintain infrastructure standards, capacity plans, and operational processes to ensure Micron data center environments continue to meet business, manufacturing, and growth requirements.
Responsibilities
Data Center Infrastructure Design & Operations
- Define standards and architecture for Data Centers, MDFs, and IDFs.
- Design rack layouts, cabinets, cable pathways, structured copper/fiber cabling, and physical infrastructure.
- Support deployment of network, server, storage, and telecommunications infrastructure.
- Lead construction, expansion, retrofit, and commissioning projects in partnership with Facilities and Construction teams.
- Ensure all infrastructure designs align with Micron standards.
Capacity, Power & Cooling Management
- Develop capacity plans and manage rack space, power, cooling, and floor utilization.
- Maintain rack elevations, inventories, and infrastructure documentation.
- Forecast future capacity requirements and expansion needs.
- Manage and support critical power infrastructure (UPS, PDU, RPP, branch circuits), cooling systems, maintenance activities, shutdown planning, and energy-efficiency initiatives.
Structured Cabling & DCIM
- Establish and govern fiber and copper cabling standards.
- Maintain cable plant documentation, connectivity records, labeling, testing, and certification compliance.
- Manage backbone and horizontal cabling supporting manufacturing, office, and data center environments.
- Administer DCIM platforms, asset inventories, rack elevations, capacity planning, reporting, governance, and documentation accuracy.
Reliability, Compliance & Continuous Improvement
- Develop operational standards, maintenance programs, and lifecycle replacement strategies.
- Lead operational readiness reviews, risk assessments, and root-cause investigations.
- Ensure infrastructure reliability, availability, and maintainability.
- Manage vendors, contractors, budgets, SOWs, and infrastructure projects from design through turnover.
- Maintain compliance with safety, electrical, audit, disaster recovery, business continuity, and resiliency requirements.
- Leverage using AI and operational metrics to improve performance, reliability, cost efficiency, standards, and best practices.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree (or equivalent experience) in Information Technology, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Telecommunications, Engineering, or a related technical field.
5+ years experience in one or more of the following:
- Data center operations and infrastructure management
- Structured cabling (fiber and copper)
- MDF/IDF design and deployment
- Critical power systems (UPS, PDU, RPP)
- Data center cooling systems (CRAH, CRAC, containment)
- Telecommunications and network physical-layer infrastructure
- Vendor and contractor management
Preferred Certifications
- BICSI RCDD
- CDCP / CDCS
- Uptime Institute Certifications
- PMP
- CFOT
Qualifications
- Strong knowledge of structured cabling, telecommunications, power, and cooling infrastructure.
- Experience leading complex infrastructure projects and managing multiple stakeholders.
- Ability to develop standards, procedures, and long-term infrastructure strategies.
- Strong communication, organizational, and leadership skills.
- Experience in highly available, critical environments.
- Proven ability to collaborate across Facilities, Construction, Engineering, and IT organizations.
