The Facilities Maintenance Assistant is responsible for supporting the facility's daily operations and upkeep by performing routine maintenance, troubleshooting systems, and ensuring a safe, functional work environment. This role works closely with the Facilities Supervisor and Facility maintenance team to identify issues, perform repairs, and maintain compliance with safety standards through preventive maintenance and inspections.
Duties/Responsibilities
Performs routine maintenance and repairs on building systems, including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and mechanical components.
Assists with identifying maintenance concerns and recommends solutions to improve system reliability.
Assists in troubleshooting issues across various infrastructure systems and coordinates with team members or contractors for resolution.
Supports the execution of preventive maintenance tasks to ensure equipment and facility systems meet safety and performance standards.
Responds to work orders, prioritizing tasks based on urgency and impact to operations.
Conducts inspections of facilities and equipment to detect safety hazards, leaks, or operational issues.
Works with vendors or outside service providers when specialized repairs or services are required.
Maintains maintenance records and ensures documentation of work performed.
Follows all safety protocols and participates in safety training or meetings.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities
General knowledge of building systems, including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and structural components.
Strong troubleshooting and mechanical aptitude.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team to resolve issues quickly and effectively.
Excellent attention to detail and time management skills.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Basic computer proficiency; experience with maintenance management systems (CMMS) is a plus.
Commitment to safe work practices and knowledge of safety standards.
Education and Experience
High school diploma or GED required.
Technical or vocational training in a maintenance trade preferred.
2+ years of experience in facilities maintenance, general repair, or building operations support preferred.
Experience in a manufacturing, warehouse, or industrial setting preferred.
Physical Requirements
Must be able to walk, stand, bend, crouch, and climb ladders for extended periods.
Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
Must be able to work at heights, in confined spaces, and in various environmental conditions (e.g., heat, cold, humidity).
Must be able to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).
Hourly Rate: $22.00 - $25.00
