Job Description: Production Technician

The Job
Unchained Labs is looking for a full-time Production Technician to join our instruments manufacturing team in Pleasanton, California. This job requires the ability to work individually and within a team to deliver our products on time. This position will follow detailed work instructions and supporting mechanical and electrical documentation to accurately assemble and test modules.
Responsibilities
- Assemble complex electromechanical, fluidic, optical, and mechanical subassemblies and complete instruments by following manufacturing work instructions, engineering drawings, bills of materials, and quality documentation
- Calibrate, align, and test intricate mechanical and electronic systems, and verify that they perform to our specifications
- Execute optical integration and precision alignment procedures for illumination systems, fluorescence collection optics, spectrometers, cameras, lasers, and associated optical components
- Assemble, route, and secure electrical wiring, ribbon cables, flexible circuits, sensors, and printed circuit boards while maintaining proper cable management and workmanship
- Work with engineers to troubleshoot existing problems, identify potential future issues before they occur, and give feedback to improve processes
- Accurately complete Device History Records (DHRs), manufacturing travelers, inspection records, and production documentation in accordance with quality system requirements
- Troubleshoot assembly, alignment, mechanical, electrical, and software issues using engineering procedures and established troubleshooting methods
- Crosstrain on multiple products and manufacturing processes to support changing production priorities
Qualifications
- High-school diploma or equivalent. Associate’s degree or technical certificate in Manufacturing Technology, Electronics, Mechanical Technology, Mechatronics, or related field preferred.
- Mechanical ability, manual dexterity, and hand-eye coordination
- Experience interpreting detailed work instructions, engineering drawings, and assembly documentation
- Ability to read and interpret assembly procedures and drawings
- Comfortable working with small mechanical parts, electrical connectors, ribbon cables, and delicate optical components
- Basic computer proficiency and ability to use manufacturing software and electronic documentation systems
- Comfortable working with changing priorities while maintaining quality and documentation standards
- Dependable, organized, and able to work independently to daily and weekly production priorities
- Familiarity with spectrometers, cameras, motion control systems, stepper motors, sensors, or optical instruments a plus
- Lean Manufacturing or Continuous Improvement experience preferred
Compensation
The US base compensation range for this full-time position is $25 to $38 per hour. This salary range is an estimate, and the actual base salary may vary based on the Company’s compensation practices. This role is also eligible for our bonus program, comprehensive health and retirement plans.
