Job Summary:

Our IT department provides direct in-person and remote support for all applications and hardware used throughout the park. The department is also responsible annually for shutting down and starting up IT systems at the end and beginning of the peak summer season.

The IT Telecom Infrastructure Technician position is based at Mammoth Hot Springs but travels frequently around the park during the workday.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the installation, repair, and maintenance of all copper (Cat3, Cat5e, Cat6, RG6, telephone pairs) and fiber optic (OM1 multi-mode and OS2 single-mode) cabling used throughout the park. This includes both indoor wiring and outdoor buried wiring.
  • Responsible for ensuring new wiring projects inside buildings and buried outdoors go through any necessary compliance steps with the NPS before performing the install.
  • Work with the Director of IT, IT Manager, and IT Systems Analyst to ensure all parts needed for routine projects and repairs are in stock in the IT supply inventory.
  • Responsible for completing outdoor line locates for Xanterra owned and maintained buried wire within the park boundary when dig projects occur, and marking the ground where wires are buried in a manner approved by the NPS.
  • Assist the Director of IT with the installation, maintenance, and decommissioning of all telecommunications equipment including PBX’s, telephones, and other peripherals used by the telecommunication system.
  • Work with the Director of IT, IT Manager, IT Systems Analyst, and IT Technicians on managing & completing all requested moves/adds/changes for all voice lines/extensions used throughout the park and documenting them in the ticket tracking tool.
  • Work with the Director of IT, IT Manager, IT Systems Analyst, and IT Technicians to complete all requests for troubleshooting of data & telephone connections, as well as requests for the addition of new data & telephone connections, including documenting them in the ticket tracking tool.
  • Work with the Director of IT, IT Manager, IT Systems Analyst, and IT Technicians to manage all records and maps associated with the telecommunications systems and data cabling.
  • Work with the Director of IT, IT Manager, IT Systems Analyst, and IT Technicians on PBX programming issues and requests that are received from the user base.
  • Assist the other IT staff members with decisions on proper troubleshooting and corrective action procedures during problem situations.
  • Provide support as needed to the Yellowstone IT Help Desk, including answering help desk phone calls and creating & resolving support tickets.
  • Provide assistance as needed with the installation, decommissioning, and troubleshooting of IT equipment such as PCs, point of sale terminals, printers, network switches, servers, and other peripherals, and ensure IT equipment is appropriately labeled and documented in the asset tracking tool.
  • Assist the Director of IT with the completion of all audits and maintaining security standards.
  • Provide support and assistance to the Xanterra Incident Response Team as needed and requested.
  • Serve in an on-call capacity for after-hours/non-business hours support when assigned by the Director of IT, Regional Director of IT, or Chief Information Officer.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • 3-5+ years of related telecom experience
  • Must be proficient at laying, troubleshooting, and repairing (including splicing) both low voltage copper and fiber optic cable, as well as terminating cable into phone blocks, wall jacks, and patch panels (and labeling as appropriate)
  • Must possess a valid US driver’s license and clean driving record
  • Proficient in the Microsoft Office suite of products as well as experience using an incident & request ticketing system (ex. ServiceNow)
  • Strong analytical skills to be able to troubleshoot problems, recognize chronic problems or patterns, and escalate as needed
  • Polite and courteous demeanor when speaking to guests and colleagues
  • Willingness to work holidays, evenings, weekends, and flexible shifts as required

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Associate’s degree in Information Technology, Information Systems, or Computer Science
  • Background in hospitality-based IT systems
  • Prior experience with IT security compliance such as PCI DSS, GDPR, and CPRA
  • Experience is preferred with the following systems: Active Directory, Cisco & Palo Alto network appliances, CrowdStrike, Dell iDRAC, DHCP, DNS, Group Policy, HYCU Backup, Ivanti Neurons, LogicMonitor, Microsoft Exchange, Microsoft Hyper-V, Microsoft Intune, Microsoft Office 365, Microsoft Windows 11, Microsoft Windows Server 2019/2022/2025, NEC Telephone PBX, Nutanix AHV, and Shift4 UTG
  • Experience is preferred with the following applications: Adobe Creative Cloud, Dayforce HCM, Infor CloudSuite, Maximo Application Suite, Mi9 Retail Systems, Opera Property Management Suite, Poppulo Harmony Content Management, and Simphony F&B POS

 

Physical Requirements include:

 

  • Must be able to sit, stand, stoop, and bend regularly
  • Crawling or climbing is required frequently to pull cable
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 100lbs without assistance
  • Vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus
  • Hearing abilities required include the ability to clearly hear other people in person and over the phone
  • Speaking abilities required include the ability to clearly communicate verbally to other people in person and over the phone, and non-verbally using written methods (ex. email, text message)
  • May be exposed to unusual temperature ranges in the work environment (both cool and hot)
  • The noise level in the work environment may be loud
  • Will be required to work in small attics or crawl spaces (wearing appropriate PPE as required), as well as work on a ladder
  • Must have the ability to drive long distances or be in a vehicle for long time periods due to slow traffic patterns within the park
  • Must be able to work at high elevations between 5000-10000ft
