Job Summary:
The Carpenter plays a critical role in maintaining and repairing Xanterra facilities and assets. This position requires advanced carpentry skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to safety and sustainability. The Carpenter performs troubleshooting, preventive maintenance, and repairs on structural and wood-based building systems, while supporting historic preservation efforts and training initiatives.

Responsibilities
- Perform troubleshooting and apply technical carpentry skills for safe operation, repair, and seasonal opening/closing of facilities and equipment.
- Conduct preventive maintenance, repairs, and replacements on structural framing, building envelopes, flooring, cabinetry, trim, and other wood systems.
- Provide carpentry-related safety and skills training for maintenance personnel.
- Assist the Historic Preservation Crew (HPC) Manager with historic preservation training for location staff.
- Track and report corrective and preventive maintenance using the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
- Select and use appropriate tools and materials safely and efficiently.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and cooperative work environment.
- Communicate effectively with professionalism and courtesy.
- Work independently with minimal supervision; flexibility to work overtime or nights as needed.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 3 years of professional carpentry experience.
- Proficiency in rough carpentry, framing, forming, and millwork (cabinets, countertops, shelving, windows, doors).
- Skilled in proper use and maintenance of carpentry tools, including power tools.
- Knowledge of wood grades, building materials, and OSHA/NFPA safety regulations.
- Ability to recognize and correct unsafe practices or non-compliant installations.
- Basic computer skills and adaptability to new procedures.
- Strong problem-solving skills and willingness to learn new techniques.
Physical Requirements include:
- Ability to work in confined spaces and comply with respiratory protection regulations.
- Walk up to 0.5 miles over uneven terrain; climb stairs and ladders; work in varied weather conditions at elevations above 6,000 ft.
- Lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
- Perform heavy labor outdoors.
- Must be at least 21 years old with a valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
