The Quality Engineer will be responsible for ensuring product and material quality across inbound supply, warehouse operations, and field feedback. The role focuses on incoming inspection using sampling methodologies, analysis of field turnback, supplier qualification, new vendor development and driving operational excellence practices to improve overall quality performance.
Primary responsibilities:
Incoming Quality & Warehouse Inspection
· Perform incoming inspection of materials at the warehouse based on defined sampling plans (AQL or equivalent).
· Ensure compliance of incoming materials with engineering drawings, specifications, and quality standards.
· Identify, segregate, and manage non-conforming materials, including documentation and disposition.
· Maintain inspection records, quality reports, and traceability documentation.
Field Turnback & Customer Quality
· Analyse turnback / rejections reported from the field for materials dispatched from the warehouse.
· Conduct root cause analysis for field failures and internal rejections.
· Coordinate with cross-functional teams (Engineering, Supply Chain, Manufacturing) for effective closure of issues.
· Drive corrective and preventive actions to avoid recurrence.
Product / Part Qualification
· Support and execute product and part qualification activities, including first article inspection (FAI) and validation checks.
· Review quality requirements during new product introduction (NPI).
· Ensure compliance with qualification plans and approval criteria.
Supplier Quality & New Vendor Development
· Participate in new vendor assessments, audits, and capability evaluations.
· Support onboarding of new suppliers in line with quality, process, and compliance requirements.
· Monitor supplier quality performance through KPIs, scorecards, and periodic reviews.
· Work with suppliers on improvement plans to enhance quality, delivery, and consistency.
Operational Excellence & Quality Systems
· Drive operational excellence practices such as RRCA (Root Cause & Corrective Action, Standard Work & Continuous Improvement initiatives
· Support implementation and adherence to quality management systems as per internal standards as applicable
· Identify opportunities for process improvement, waste reduction, and defect elimination.
· Participate in internal audits and support external audits as required.
EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS
· Bachelor’s Degree / Diploma in Electronics, Electrical, Industrial, or related Engineering discipline
EXPERIENCE
8–12 years of experience in Quality Engineering, preferably in manufacturing or warehouse operations
Experience in incoming inspection, supplier quality, and field quality issues preferred
Certification in Quality (Six Sigma / CQE / Internal Auditor) is an advantage
ANY OTHER KNOWLEDGE/ SKILLS/ PERSONAL ATTRIBUTES IF REQUIRED
Strong knowledge of incoming inspection, sampling plans, and quality tools
Hands-on experience in root cause analysis (5 Why, Fishbone, etc.)
Understanding of supplier quality management
Familiarity with standard work and continuous improvement practices
Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications
Strong analytical, documentation, and communication skills
Ability to work cross-functionally and manage multiple priorities
