The Logistics Engineering Co-Op (January 12, 2027 – May 7, 2027) in our Durham, NC office offers hands-on experience driving operational excellence and continuous improvement within a fast-paced distribution environment.

In this role, you will partner closely with the Logistics and Leadership teams to analyze system and performance data, translate insights into actionable recommendations, and help shape data-driven decisions across the site. You’ll build and maintain dashboards and BI tools that simplify complex analysis for broader use, while also supporting initiatives that improve efficiency, accuracy, and throughput.

You will play a key role in projects that directly impact site performance. Ranging from process validation and root cause analysis to layout redesign and material handling improvements. This is a highly visible opportunity to contribute to real-world solutions, develop technical and analytical skills, and gain exposure to Lean and continuous improvement methodologies in a collaborative, team-oriented setting.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Validate system data for time studies, historical data analysis and process review to determine validity of proposed process changes

  • Analyze business/performance metrics and impacts across the site and develop BI tools to make analysis repeatable for less technical users

  • Create and maintain dashboard measures to support senior management

  • Identify barriers to performance and assist Leadership Team in identifying/analyzing root cause and effect and develop action plans to resolve

  • Support all continuous improvement initiatives in Logistics with idea generation, leading improvement teams, idea gathering from floor workers, etc.

  • Lead testing and validation of system enhancements

  • Execute projects including layout redesign and material handling improvements

  • Create/maintain procedures, guides, and process documentation

 

COMPETENCIES:

  • Excellent data analysis skills through Excel and BI type tools

  • Database / SQL knowledge

  • Excellent organizational skills /detail oriented

  • Exposure to analytical, reasoning, and problem-solving methods (Lean, Six Sigma, A3, etc.)

  • Self-directed, task oriented, and flexible in fast-paced distribution environment

  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals

  • Strong communication skills (written & verbal)

  • Problem-solve and develop ideas and suggestions for process improvements.

  • Ability to maintain and build effective relationships with cross-functional team

  • Ability to stand up to 8-10 hours during shift

  • Ability to lift up to 20 pounds periodically

DESIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Progressing toward a BS Industrial Systems Engineering or equivalent engineering experience
