Overview
Black Desert Resort, nestled within the breathtaking red rock landscape of Southern Utah, is a premier luxury destination offering world-class accommodations, championship golf, exceptional dining, spa experiences, and exclusive club amenities. The Finance Department is responsible for safeguarding the resort's financial integrity while supporting strategic business decisions through accurate financial reporting, operational analysis, and strong internal controls. This role will also oversee the same duties as the resort for the Black Desert Club and possibly Golf operations at a future date.
The Assistant Director of Finance serves as a key financial leader, partnering with department heads to drive operational excellence and fiscal stewardship across the resort.

Onsite: Black Desert ResortShift and Schedule Availability: Full Time / Year-RoundPay Range: $100,000 to $130,000 annually. This is the pay range we reasonably expect to pay for this position. Individual compensation decisions are based on experience, qualifications, internal equity, and business needs.

Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities including but not limited to
- Assist the Area Director of Finance in managing all daily accounting and finance operations for the resort.
- Supervise, coach, mentor, and develop Finance team members while promoting a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
- Oversee general ledger accounting, month-end close, financial reporting, account reconciliations, and journal entries.
- Review and analyze monthly financial statements, operating results, forecasts, and variance reports.
- Assist with the preparation of annual operating budgets, capital budgets, forecasts, and long-range financial planning.
- Ensure compliance with GAAP, company accounting policies, internal controls, and applicable federal, state, and local regulations.
- Oversee Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Income Audit, Cash Management, and Fixed Asset accounting functions.
- Review and approve account reconciliations, financial transactions, and balance sheet schedules.
- Partner with operational leaders to analyze labor costs, revenue trends, expenses, and profitability opportunities.
- Monitor cash flow, banking activity, and working capital while supporting cash management strategies.
- Coordinate internal and external audits and ensure timely completion of audit requests.
- Assist with tax reporting, regulatory filings, and compliance documentation.
- Develop and improve financial processes, reporting tools, and internal control procedures.
- Support system implementations, software upgrades, and process improvement initiatives.
- Participate in executive meetings and provide financial guidance for operational decision-making.
- Serve as Acting Director of Finance during absences or as assigned.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration required.
- CPA, CMA, or MBA preferred.
- Minimum of five years of progressive accounting or finance leadership experience, preferably within a luxury hotel, resort, or hospitality environment.
- Strong understanding of hotel accounting, Uniform System of Accounts for the Lodging Industry (USALI), and GAAP.
- Experience with budgeting, forecasting, financial analysis, and internal controls.
- Strong knowledge of hotel property management systems, point-of-sale systems, and accounting software.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Demonstrated leadership experience managing accounting or finance professionals.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to prioritize multiple projects while maintaining exceptional accuracy and meeting deadlines.
- High level of integrity, discretion, and professionalism in handling confidential financial information.
