GENERAL PURPOSE:
Directs and coordinates activities of production department(s) in processing materials and manufacturing sign products by performing the following duties personally or through subordinates.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Reviews production orders or schedules to ascertain product data such as types, quantities, and specifications of products and scheduled delivery dates in order to plan department operations
- Plans production operations, establishing priorities and sequences for manufacturing products
- Prepares operational schedules and coordinates manufacturing activities to include job assignments to ensure production and quality of products meets specifications
- Reviews production and operating reports and resolves operational, manufacturing, and maintenance problems to ensure minimum costs and prevent operational delays
- Inspects machines and equipment to ensure specific operational performance and optimum utilization
- Develops or revises standard operational and working practices and observes workers to ensure compliance with standards
- Resolves worker grievances or submits unsettled grievances to Production Superintendent for action
- Compiles, stores, and retrieves production data
- Develops cost estimates to ensure accuracy and adherence to department procedures
- Computes cost factors and prepares estimates to be used by management for planning, organizing, and scheduling work
- Fabricates signs according to customer specification and government regulations
- Conducts special studies to develop and establish standard hour and related cost data
- Consults with clients, vendors, or other individuals to discuss and resolve issues
- Interfaces with other individuals in the organization to obtain support and commitment to production
- Identifies cost trends to assist management in cost reduction and process improvement efforts
MARGINAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Participates in safety meetings/ training
- Coordinates and assists with sign transportation and installation as needed
- Oversees coordination of city inspections and locales for excavation
- Reviews new technologies, materials, and products for possible future use
- Performs other functions as necessary or as assigned
NATURE OF WORK CONTACTS:
- Interacts daily with YESCO employees both in-person, electronically, and on the telephone working to meet customer needs and expectations for sign projects

An Associate’s degree (A.A.) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school in a related discipline required; or seven to ten years demonstrated experience in sign production projects or related areas; or any combination of education, experience, and training which provides the following knowledge, skills and abilities:
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical procedures
- Ability to write reports, business correspondence
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers
- Ability to apply mathematical calculations regarding job costing
- Ability to use word processing, spreadsheet, inventory, design, internet, order processing, project management, and manufacturing software
- Ability to communicate in person, electronically, and over the telephone
- Ability to review documents to produce projects according to customer needs and expectations
