This Position reports to:
Senior Engineering ManagerIn this role, you will have the opportunity to act as a design authority for an engineering discipline with low to medium complexity. Each day, you will complete assignments on small projects or portions of larger projects in a cost-effective manner. You will also showcase your expertise by applying basic design thinking/design for excellence concepts in projects.
The work model for the role is # LI - Hybrid.
This role is contributing to the to the Process Automation business in Energy Industries division based in Bangalore, India.
You will be mainly accountable for:
Execute Complex Service Tasks: Independently perform installation, commissioning, maintenance, upgrades, retrofits, and repairs across various service categories including end-of-life services.
Customer Engagement & Satisfaction: Deliver service work aligned with customer expectations, build strong client relationships, and identify opportunities to promote the full-service portfolio.
Technical Troubleshooting & Preventive Actions: Diagnose complex equipment failures, recommend corrective actions, and implement preventive measures to enhance system reliability.
Project Planning & Resource Coordination: Prepare work plans, cost estimates, and ensure availability of quality materials and equipment for service activities.
Engineering & Proposal Support: Apply standard engineering techniques in service projects and assist in preparing proposals and presentations for service programs.
Process Analysis & Integration Design: Identify customer requirements, analyze current processes, and design optimized solutions in collaboration with business teams.
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Provide technical support during testing and commissioning and work closely with business and IT teams to deliver solutions within defined timelines.
Continuous Improvement & Stakeholder Interaction: Suggest improvements in product, service quality, and customer experience, while staying up-to-updated on industry trends and engaging with diverse stakeholders.

Qualifications for the role:
Industry Experience: 8+ years of experience in process automation, specifically within Oil & Gas, Refineries, or Petrochemical sectors, with strong exposure to DCS retrofits, upgrades, service, and commissioning.
ABB System Expertise: Hands-on experience with ABB Symphony Plus, Harmony Legacy Systems, ABB 800xA (including Harmony Connect, History, and Information Management), and legacy platforms such as Advant, Plantguard, Safeguard, Infi90, and SCADAVantage.
IT & Virtualization Skills: Proficiency in system installation and integration in virtual environments, Windows administration, ESXi setup, RAID configuration, VMware, and cybersecurity tools like MacAfee ePO and WSUS.
Network & Communication Protocols: Working knowledge of managed switches, routers, firewalls, domain and Active Directory configuration, and communication protocols including MODBUS, OPC, Profibus, HART, and Foundation Fieldbus.
Field Instrumentation & Asset Optimization: Familiarity with field devices such as sensors, transducers, and drives, along with experience in asset optimization and system/network hardening.
Mobility & Offshore Readiness: Willingness to travel extensively, including long-term assignments and deployment to offshore Oil & Gas platforms.
Educational Background: Bachelor’s degree in Instrumentation Engineering or Electronics & Communication.
