As a Director Education I, you will lead the operational activities of a smaller education area while overseeing multiple diverse groups and leveraging departmental and program leaders to manage assigned areas. In this role, you will serve as the administrative leader for one or more Education departments, programs, markets and/or shared services and oversee all Akron General Graduate Medical Education training programs.

A caregiver in this role works days from 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. and is required to attend onsite at Akron General five days per week.

A caregiver who excels in this role will:

  • Lead in a matrixed environment and oversees the administrative aspects of education activities. 

  • Assure that they are conducted efficiently, ethically, and in compliance with relevant regulations and guidelines and throughput is meeting service level expectations.

  • Work closely with Education leaders to ensure service level expectations are managed and supported. Directs strategy and growth, implementation, productivity, financial performance, compliance and risk mitigation, and continuous improvement.  

  • Direct and implement strategic plans for Education administration in alignment with the Enterprise Education goals and objectives.

  • Plan, organize and direct all activities related to staffing for their area, including hiring, orienting, evaluating, disciplinary actions and continuing education initiatives.

  • Advise the Education leadership regarding various processes including integration activities, human resources, space, support or shared services, compliance and requirements to achieve specified goals and objectives.

  • Research, perform analysis, compile data and advises Education leadership relative to short and long-range planning strategies, personnel management, and external relations. 

  • Maintain an effective organizational structure and ensure proper staffing with skilled and trained personnel.

  • Monitor processes and recommend and implement improvements to ensure maximum service.

  • Direct the financial operations for the assigned education areas, including budget development, expense and revenue analysis, evaluation of education support and development activities.

  • Provide reporting to Education leadership as required.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Healthcare Administration, or related field

  • Five years of professional and functionally relevant experience

  • Two years of demonstrated leadership and management experience

  • (Master's degree in a relevant field may offset up to two years of the experience requirement)

  • Knowledge of budgeting, cost analysis, manpower planning, supervision, compliance and operational analysis

  • Oral and written communication in English

  • Excellent analytical skills and business acumen

Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include: 

  • Master’s degree

  • GME/Education background

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to perform work in a stationary position for extended periods. 

  • Ability to operate a computer and other office equipment. 

  • Ability to communicate effectively and exchange accurate information. 

  • Ability to travel throughout the health system.

Personal Protective Equipment:

  • Follows standard procedures regarding personal protective equipment.
