Position Overview
The Laser Engraving Operator is responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining laser engraving equipment used to mark and identify precision components. This position requires strong attention to detail, the ability to interpret engineering drawings and work instructions, and a commitment to producing high-quality work that meets customer and company requirements.
The ideal candidate is mechanically inclined, comfortable working with computerized equipment, and able to work independently in a precision manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Set up and operate laser engraving equipment to mark, etch, and identify precision components according to engineering drawings and customer specifications.
- Review work orders, engineering drawings, specifications, and engraving requirements prior to beginning work.
- Load and position parts accurately in fixtures to ensure proper engraving location and orientation.
- Select, create, and/or modify laser engraving programs based on job requirements.
- Inspect completed work to ensure markings meet drawing and customer requirements.
- Use basic measuring and inspection equipment as required to verify part and engraving locations.
- Maintain an organized, clean, and safe work environment.
- Follow established manufacturing procedures, quality standards, and safety requirements.
- Work with Engineering and Manufacturing personnel to resolve engraving or documentation issues.
- Support continuous improvement efforts related to quality, productivity, and process efficiency.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Required
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Basic computer skills and ability to learn laser engraving software.
- Ability to read and follow written work instructions.
- Ability to read basic engineering drawings and understand dimensions and part orientation.
- Basic mechanical aptitude.
- Ability to work independently while maintaining established quality and productivity standards.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
Preferred
- Previous experience operating laser engraving, laser marking, CNC, or other computerized manufacturing equipment.
- Experience working in a precision machining or manufacturing environment.
- Experience reading detailed engineering drawings and specifications.
- Experience using measuring tools such as calipers, micrometers, height gauges, or similar inspection equipment.
- Experience working with serialized or customer-specific components.

Physical Requirements

Work Environment
This position operates in a precision manufacturing environment and requires adherence to all company safety policies and procedures. Personal protective equipment (PPE) must be worn as required.
